ALRIGHT,

[00:00:01]

UH, A FORUM HAVING BEEN ESTABLISHED,

[Arts & Cultural Advisory Commission on October 17, 2024.]

UM, I CALL TO ORDER THE ADVISORY, UH, FOR THE ARTS AND CULTURE FOR THE CITY OF DALLAS.

IT'S CALLED TO ORDER AT 4 32.

UH, WE HAVE PUBLIC SPEAKER TODAY.

IF YOU COULD GO AHEAD AND, UH, YOU'LL BE SEATED RIGHT HERE.

ALRIGHT.

SO IF YOU WOULD INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR THE COMMISSIONERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO MEET YOU.

HELLO.

COMMISSIONER IS HOW DE A LITTLE BIT EARLIER THAN I THOUGHT.

SO THAT CAN, YOU KNOW, GET, GET THE JET ALL THE WAY OUT.

WE GET STARTED AT FOUR 30, A COUPLE.

OH, I'M SORRY.

UM, I'M SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF, I STARTED ON LAST YEAR.

THAT 100% ALLIANCE TO YOU GUYS' CULTURE.

ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO SEE THEM BECAUSE WE CAN'T SEE HIM? OH, COULD, COULD YOU JUST RIGHT THERE? YEAH.

OKAY.

IS THAT BETTER FOR YOU ALL? THE CAMERA'S CURRENTLY NOT WORKING FOR SPEAKER.

OH, IT IS NOT.

UH, CAN YOU ALL HEAR THE SPEAKER? WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE CAMERA IS CURRENTLY NOT WORKING FOR THE PUBLIC SPEAKER.

WE CAN HEAR CHECK ONE, TWO, CHECK.

THREE, FOUR.

YOU HEAR ME? HOLD, HOLD.

HOLD ON ONE SECOND.

HOLD ON ONE SECOND.

UH, WILL THE CAMERA BE WORKING? IS IT SOMETHING THAT WE'RE WORKING ON? OR? IT WILL NOT, IT'S NOT WORKING TODAY.

OKAY.

OUR APOLOGIES.

SO, UH, I GUESS MAN TO SPEAK.

YEAH.

RE YEAH, REINTRODUCE YOURSELF SO THAT WE CAN, UH, MAKE COPIOUS NOTES ABOUT IT.

MY NAME IS DESMOND BLA.

I AM A NATIVE DALLAS MUSICIAN.

I STARTED PUTTING, MAKING MUSIC HERE, .

I MOVED TO NEW YORK.

I PERFORMED ALL OVER, COME BACK HOME AND REALIZED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS MISSING.

BUT IN THE CITY, I PUT TOGETHER A, UM, WE CALL IT THE DALLAS INTERTAINMENT AWARD.

AND I WAS DOING IT OUT OF FUN AND JUST HAVE, HOPEFULLY WE HAD A ROOM WHERE WE COULD ALL JUST GET DRESSED UP AND RECOGNIZE EACH OTHER.

BUT THEN I DEVELOPED A SENSE OF ADVOCACY AND I REALIZED THAT, YOU KNOW, IT'S, I WENT TO A MEETING THAT YOU ALL HAD.

IT WAS FOR Y'ALL DISCUSSED CULTURAL PLANS.

I REALIZED THAT I ALIGNED WHAT WE WERE DOING IS ALIGNED WITH THE CULTURAL PLAN.

SO I WANTED TO PRESENT THIS TO YOU ALL SO THAT, YOU KNOW, THAT WHAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON AND HOW THIS COULD, I FEEL LIKE IN THE FUTURE, HOW THE, HOW THE COMMISSION, HOW THIS COULD HELP US, AND ALSO HOW IT COULD HELP YOU GUYS ALONG WITH WHAT YOU GUYS TRYING TO DO WITHIN THE COMMUNITY AS FAR AS BRINGING MORE ART, MORE INCLUSIVENESS, MORE DIVERSITY IN ONE ROOM, ALL WITHIN CELEBRATING EACH OTHER.

WHAT? JUST DRAWING EVERYONE TO ONE SPOT TO CELEBRATE.

SO WE HAVE, OVER THE PAST YEAR, WE DID OUR FIRST EVENT LAST YEAR.

AND, UM, WITH NO MONEY, UM, EVERYBODY VOLUNTEERED THE TIME WITH US.

THEY, UM, UM, ALL THE, EVERY PERFORMER, EVERY AV PERSON, EVERYTHING.

AND, AND I WANNA SAY WE, WE APPROXIMATE, COULD WE, WE COULD HAVE SPENT 30,000, BUT EVERYONE GAVE US THEIR TIME.

THEY, THEY, THEIR PROBLEMS HERE.

AND WE HAD THIS EVENT.

WE HAD OVER 500 PEOPLE TO, UH, UM, WE, THIS EVENT WAS VOTED THROUGH THE COMMUNITY.

SO, UM, THE COMMUNITY, WE HAD ABOUT 14,000 EMAILS, 14 INTERACTIONS OF PEOPLE.

WE HAD, UM, 87 CATEGORIES THAT WE REPRESENT, THAT REPRESENT ALL ART ASPECTS OF THE, UM, MUSIC AND CULTURAL SINGING, SUCH AS MUSICIANS, ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SOUND ENGINEERS, TO BURLESQUE DANCERS, TO EVERYTHING THAT INCORPORATES TO VIDEOGRAPHERS, EVERYTHING.

AND WE'RE ALL JUST CELEBRATING EACH OTHER IN THIS ONE ROOM.

AND WE HAD 87 CATEGORIES, 87 WINNERS WITH, ALONG WITH A LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.

AND, UM, WHAT I REALIZED IS, ONCE AGAIN, IT ALIGNED WITH THE PLAN BECAUSE WE WERE ALL TOGETHER UNDER ONE ROOF CELEBRATING ONE PURPOSE IN THIS, UM, MUSIC AND ART CULTURE IN DALLAS.

AND WHAT I'M COMING TO YOU GUYS AS, UH, HOW CAN I SAY THIS? I'M COMING TO YOU GUYS ASKING IF THERE'S SOME WAY WE COULD MEET IN THE MIDDLE AND CONTINUE THIS AND MAKE THIS A BIGGER THING, UM, WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.

UM, WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING IS I PUT TOGETHER A, A COMMITTEE OF PEOPLE AND WE'VE PUT TOGETHER A PRESENTATION, WHICH IS NOT ABLE TO BE SHOWN 'CAUSE WE HAVE SUCH A SHORT TIME.

BUT I'D LOVE TO SPEAK WITH ALL OF YOU INDIVIDUALLY IN THE FUTURE AND WE CAN REALLY TALK ABOUT HOW THIS COULD BE A GOOD PLAN THAT GOES ALONG WITH WHAT YOU GUYS, UM, ARE ALL ABOUT AND WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT.

UM, AND BASICALLY THAT'S REALLY WHAT I WANTED TO PRESENT TO YOU GUYS IS JUST THIS, THIS OPPORTUNITY.

AND WE HAVE, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THREE LEVELS OF

[00:05:01]

ADVOCACY THAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU GUYS.

THE ONE IS TO EITHER, WE WOULD LIKE TO DO THINGS AT THE, UM, HOW CAN I EXPLAIN IT? WE, WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO IT AT THE LONGHORN BALLROOM, BUT WE WOULD LIKE TO BE MORE INCLUSIVE WITH THE OAC AND DO IT AT THE EVENTS, AT THE EVENT SPACES SUCH AS THE MOODY AND ALL OF THE PLACES THAT YOU GUYS HAVE.

HOPEFULLY WE CAN UTILIZE THAT INSTEAD OF USING OUTSOURCE, WHETHER WE HAVE TO.

THEN IT STILL, UM, SERVING THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING EVERYONE TOGETHER.

BUT WHAT WE'RE ASKING FOR IS HONESTLY 50 K, UH, OR, OR, OR TO MEET US AT 50.

UM, OKAY, LET ME, LET ME JUMP IN NOW.

YES, GO AHEAD.

GO AHEAD.

THE MONEY PART, RIGHT? YES.

UH, LET ME, AND I'M SURE THE COMMISSIONERS WOULD, UH, ALSO NEED TO KNOW, UH, HAS YOUR BUSINESS FORMATION, UH, OR HAVE YOU RECEIVED A NONPROFIT STATUS BY ANY CHANCE? NO, WE HAVE LITERALLY JUST STARTED ON LAST YEAR AND WE'RE ACTUALLY WORKING TOWARDS THAT.

AND WE ARE, WE'RE, WE'RE ACTUALLY WORKING WITH A FEW 5 0 1 C THREES THAT WERE ADOPTED.

WE'RE ALSO WORKING WITH THE DALLAS MUSIC OFFICE C3 SIX.

I I THINK THE FIRST STEP, UH, IS GOING TO BE FOR, UH, US TO CONNECT YOU WITH JULIA HOS.

YES.

UM, SO THAT SHE CAN GO TAKE YOU THROUGH ALL THE STEPS NECESSARY, UH, TO HAVE YOUR ORGANIZATION RECOGNIZED FOR ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS. AND THAT'S GONNA BE THE FIRST STEP.

UM, AND FULL DISCLOSURE, I, UH, UH, I'VE MET, UH, DESMOND.

WE ACTUALLY SIT ON A BOARD TOGETHER.

UH, THE TEXAS MUSIC OFFICE HAS A DALLAS OFFICE NOW FOR THE DALLAS MUSIC OFFICE, UH, WHICH BASICALLY IS A DIVISION OF THE TEXAS MUSIC OFFICE.

AND, UH, MR. LEHMAN IS QUITE THE ADVOCATE FOR LOCAL MUSICIANS AND HE DOES PERFORM AND DEBELL 'EM.

AND HE'S A, A VERY, UH, WELL KNOWN AND WELL THOUGHT OF MUSICIAN AND PERFORMER.

I, I DON'T WANT TO JUST SAY MUSICIAN 'CAUSE HE'S FAR LIKE PERFORMER, UH, BUT, UH, HE IS AN ADVOCATE.

BUT WE'RE GONNA PUT YOU IN TOUCH WITH JULIA HOS AND, UH, SO AF AFTER COMMISSIONERS ASK THEIR QUESTIONS.

YES.

UH, AND I WANNA SAY THIS AS WELL, WE HAVE A FEW COMMISSIONERS THAT HAVE TO LEAVE EARLY.

SO, UM, UH, I WOULD ASK THE COMMISSIONERS TO BE LIGHT ON YOUR ON YOUR QUESTIONING.

UH, BUT WHEN YOU FINISH, IF GENTLEMAN OVER HERE WITH GLASSES, MANNY UH, MANNY WILL PUT YOU IN TOUCH WITH JULIA HOS.

OKAY.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

COMMISSIONERS.

UH, OPENING IT UP FOR QUESTIONS FOR MR. LAYMAN.

SIR, TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE, YOU KNOW, THE STRUCTURE YOU TOLD US ABOUT, YOU KNOW, KIND OF THE OVERVIEW OF WHAT YOU DID, BUT WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE LIKE IN, IN REGARDS TO, UM, REALLY WHAT IS THE EVENT IS MORE DIRECT? SO THE EVENT IS A OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO CELEBRATE UPLIFT AND TO, UM, TO AMPLIFY THE MUSIC CULTURE SCENE IN DALLAS.

SO IT'S A, IT'S A ENTERTAINMENT EVENT THAT YOU PUT TOGETHER WITH AWARDS YES.

CEREMONY, I MEAN, WITH PRE PRESENTATION OF AWARDS FOR THE 87 CATEGORIES THAT YOU JUST, UM, DISCUSSED.

YES.

AND IT'S BASICALLY JUST THINK OF LIKE THE DALLAS GRAMMYS SHALL, SHALL YOU SAY, THERE'S LOTS OF DIFFERENT OTHER, UM, AVENUES OF, OF AWARD CEREMONIES THROUGHOUT THE CITY.

BUT THIS ONE IS A LITTLE BIT MORE INCLUSIVE.

IT'S MORE VISUAL.

IT'S MUSICAL, AND IT'S ALSO BEHIND THE SCENES.

AND LIKE I SAID, IT'S AMPLIFYING, UM, WHAT WE DO, BUT WITH THE, WITH THE INTENT OF JUST BRINGING US ALL TOGETHER AND, AND WHICH IS ALIGNED WITH CULTURAL PLAY.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

AND BEFORE YOU SPEAK WITH JULIA, YOU MIGHT WANNA LOOK AT THE, UM, OH EIGHT, IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE.

LOOK AT THE OAC WEBSITE.

THE WHAT'S, DO YOU KNOW THE, THE, THE FUNDING PROGRAMS? WE HAVE VERY SPECIFIC FUNDING PROGRAMS. YES.

AND WE CAN ONLY FUND PROGRAMMING THROUGH THOSE PROGRAMS. SO JULIA WILL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT THEM.

BUT IT MIGHT BE GOOD IN PREPARATION FOR SPEAKING WITH HER TO LOOK AT THE DIFFERENT FUNDING PROGRAMS THAT OAC OVERSEES AND SEE HOW YOUR ORGANIZATION, YOU'LL, YOU'LL HAVE TO BE NONPROFIT AS THE CHAIR HAS SAID FIRST, BUT SEE HOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING MIGHT FIT INTO THE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF FUNDING.

THAT PROBABLY WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.

AND MAKE YOUR CONVERSATION WITH JULIA MORE PRODUCTIVE.

OKAY.

SO WHAT'S YOUR NAME? NIKKI BRAG ALONE.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I'LL MAKE SURE I KNOW THEM.

SURE.

AND, AND, UH, MR. LEHMAN, UH, COMMISSIONER BRAG ALONE CHAIRS THE ALLOCATIONS COMMITTEE.

SO I WOULD TAKE EVERYTHING THAT SHE SAYS REGARD MONEY AS GOSPEL.

I TAKE WHAT THE STAFF SAYS.

BUT, UH, AND WHAT'S THE WEBSITE? WHEN IS IT? OH, DALLAS DALLAS CULTURE.ORG.

DALLAS CULTURE.ORG.

AND THEN YOU KIND OF, UH, NAVIGATE AROUND

[00:10:01]

THERE LOOKING FOR THE FUNDING PROGRAMS, ARTS ACTIVATE, COP, UM, I'M NOT SURE HOW YOU FIT INTO THAT, BUT IF YOU READ ABOUT THEM, YOU'LL AT LEAST HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THIS OFFICE IS ABLE TO PROVIDE FUNDING AND WHETHER OR NOT YOU FIT IN IT.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

SURE.

OKAY.

AND I KNOW IT'S DIFFICULT FOR ALL OF THE COMMISSIONERS ONLINE THAT CAN'T ACTUALLY SEE, BUT ARE JUST HEARING, UM, ANY QUESTIONS FOR, UH, ANYONE ONLINE VIRTUAL? NO QUESTIONS.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? OKAY.

JUST, UM, SO THIS IS A VERY NEW ORGANIZATION THAT YOU STARTED.

IT'S ABOUT A YEAR OLD.

YES.

UM, SO IS THE PURPOSE ONLY TO GIVE OUT AWARDS? NO.

THE PURPOSE AT, AT FIRST IT WAS, BUT NOW IT'S MORE TO SERVE AS AN, ALMOST AS AN ALLIANCE FOR THE MUSICAL AND THE ART CULTURE SCENE.

UM, WE, YOU KNOW, A A LOT OF OTHER CITIES, THEY KIND OF INVEST A LOT INTO THEIR MUSICAL, SUCH AS NASHVILLE AND AUSTIN AND I, I KIND OF DEVELOPED A SENSE OF ADVOCACY WHERE I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE THINGS THAT THE CULTURAL CENTER HAD TO OFFER UNTIL I WENT TO A MEETING.

AND A LOT OF THESE ARTISTS OUT HERE DON'T KNOW THAT.

SO I FEEL LIKE WE'RE THE ONES THAT CAN HELP PROVIDE AND BE THAT PROVIDER FOR THE ARTISTS TO UNDERSTAND AND KNOW THAT THERE'S OPPORTUNITIES OUT THERE FOR THEM TO REACH OUT TO THE, TO THE OAC AND GET HELP.

AND TO JUST TO, TO, TO, TO SHOW OUT THEIR ART, TO SHOW OFF THEIR ART AND, AND EXUDE WHO THEY ARE AS ARTISTS IN THE CITY.

AND TO KEEP THE CITY VIBRANT.

'CAUSE WE ARE THE HEARTBEAT OF THE CITY.

WE'RE THE ONES ON THE STAGES.

WE'RE THE ONES THE LOCAL, AND I WANT TO KEEP PEOPLE HERE.

YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY WANTS TO LEAD.

AND IF WE CREATE THIS INFRASTRUCTURE WITHIN THE CULTURE, THIS WILL MAKE KIDS WANT TO STAY AND JUST BE THE BEST THAT THEY CAN IN DALLAS.

AND IF THEY'RE THE BEST IN DALLAS AND DALLAS IS THE BEST, BEST.

AND IT JUST KIND OF CREATES THIS COMMUNITY OF JUST HAVING A GREAT MUSIC AND ART CULTURAL COMMUNITY AND WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY LIKE NASHVILLE, AUSTIN, AND PHOENIX, AND ALL THOSE MAJOR CITIES.

THANK YOU.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? OR MR. THIS IS, UH, UH, I'M ONLINE.

THIS IS, UH, CLYDE, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR MR. LEHMAN.

YES, SIR.

YES.

COMMISSIONER VALENTINE.

DO YOU, UH, MR. LEHMAN, THANK YOU FOR VISITING US AND SHARING YOUR, YOUR WORK AND YOUR PASSION AND ENTHUSIASM FOR THE CREATORS OF DALLAS AND THE PEOPLE MAKING THINGS HAPPEN.

UH, DO YOU HAVE A WEBSITE OR A WAY TO, UH, FOR US TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU ALL ARE TOO? YES.

UM, OUR WEBSITE IS WWW DO DALLAS ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS.COM.

THANK YOU.

BE LIVE AS SOON AS WE'RE OUT OF THIS MEETING.

.

THAT'S FUNNY.

I THINK WE HAVE TIME FOR JUST ONE MORE QUESTION, IF THERE IS ONE MORE QUESTION AND THERE BEING NO FURTHER QUESTIONS.

UH, MR. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VISITING US.

I APPRECIATE Y'ALL SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING ME TO COME AND SPEAK AND SHOW WHAT WE'RE DOING BEHIND THE SCENES, ALL OF US NIGHTLIFE PEOPLE, AND HOW WE CAN ALL THRIVE TOGETHER AND MAKE DALLAS THE BEST.

MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO COME AND MAKE PEOPLE STAY.

THANK YOU.

THANK Y'ALL SO MUCH.

NEXT, UH, BEFORE THE MEETING, MAYBE SLIGHTLY OUT OF ORDER, BUT WE'RE GONNA LAUNCH OUR COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT RIGHT NOW.

UM, AND OUR COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT, OUR CULTURAL SPOTLIGHT, UH, IS THE CREATOR HOUSE.

SO IF WE CAN GET EVERYBODY FROM THE CREATOR HOUSE, I DON'T KNOW IF WE'VE GOT ENOUGH SEATS, IF NOT, PULL UP ANOTHER SEAT.

AND I HAVE TO, UH, MAKE FULL DISCLOSURE ON HERE THAT, UH, THIS, UH, CULTURAL SPOTLIGHT INCLUDES THE ONE AND ONLY MR. KING HOLLIS, UM, AND ALSO KING HOLLI, UH, I'LL DISCLOSE TO EVERYONE WAS NOT ONLY, YOU KNOW, A A CLIENT OF MINE, BUT A VERY CLOSE FRIEND.

AND, UH, AND LINDE SINGLETON.

UH, THESE GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE FILMMAKERS, UH, AND WE WELCOME THIS ORGANIZATION AND WE CERTAINLY WELCOME KING AND LINDE.

ALRIGHT, YOU'VE GOT THE, YOU GOT THE SPOTLIGHT.

HELLO EVERYONE.

HELLO.

HOW ARE YOU? HELLO.

PROBABLY, WE ARE JUST DOING THIS EVERY DAY, MAKING IT HAPPEN TOMORROW, BUT, UH, WE ARE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THE CITY AS WELL.

I, UM, I SAY .

MM-HMM, .

OKAY, COOL.

[00:15:01]

UH, MY NAME IS GI.

OKAY.

I JUST ABOUT, OKAY, WAIT, LET'S GO AHEAD.

YES.

SO MY NAME IS JACKSON J HUFFMAN, AND I'M THE CEO OF CREATOR CAPITAL.

WE OPERATE, CREATOR CAPITAL IS A VENTURE STUDIO.

SO WE'RE GONNA SHOW YOU CREATOR HOUSES TODAY.

UM, I'M HAVING A HARD TIME HEARING EXCUSE.

CAN YOU SPEAK UP MR. JACKSON? I NEED TO BE LOUDER.

YES, PLEASE.

OKAY.

I WILL BE LOUDER.

UM, SO THE MAIN SLIDES YOU'RE GONNA, WE'RE GONNA FOCUS ON TODAY ARE, WE HAVE CURRICULUM, WE HAVE CURRICULUM, WE HAVE, UH, INTEGRATED HOSPITAL, ALSO HAVE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

WE CREATE, WE RUN BRAND CAMPAIGNS FOR COMPANIES.

GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY LIFE IN FOUR SLIDES.

IT'S A LITTLE BIT DIFFICULT TO DO, BUT LINDE ASKED ME TO DO THAT.

, UM, YOU KNOW, I WAS BORN TO TEENAGE PARENTS.

UM, THEY HAD ULTIMATELY LOST CUSTODY, ME AND MY BROTHER.

BUT, UM, I WENT ON MY OWN AT ABOUT 15.

AND, UM, I LIKE TO SAY I WAS A FOSTER KID, HOMELESS KID, A CREATIVE KID THAT SAVED MY LIFE BEING A CREATIVE KID IN DALLAS, TEXAS.

ALSO AT THOSE TIMES, BECAUSE I GOT TO HANG OUT WITH MY FRIENDS AND CREATE THINGS THAT WE SAW ON MTV AND WHEN WE CREATED, WORKED.

SO THE SECOND SLIDE THERE WAS, THE SECOND PART OF MY LIFE IS US SELLING MILLIONS OF ALBUMS AND TOURING THE WORLD AND CREATING HISTORY.

UM, WE JUST HAD THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIP HOP THIS THIS YEAR.

AND TWO OF THOSE PAGES I HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH.

SO I'M REALLY PROUD OF THAT WITH AND DOC.

THE THIRD SLIDE THERE YOU'LL SEE IS ONCE I GOT SUCCESSFUL IN THE BUSINESS, I NEVER FORGOT WHERE I CAME FROM.

AND ALSO GOT REALLY MOTIVATED TO SOLVE A LOT OF THE PROBLEMS I BELIEVE CREATORS HAVE IN DALLAS.

SO THAT THIRD SLIDE IS HOW I CONNECT AND CREATE WITH TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS.

ADDRESS THEIR CHALLENGES THAT THEY NEED TO OVERCOME THROUGH CREATIVITY AND THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT EXIST IN THE CURRENT CREATOR ECONOMY FOR THEM TO THRIVE.

AND THIRD SLIDE THERE.

I MEAN, FOURTH SLIDE THERE YOU'LL SEE IS, IS US OPERATING IN CREATOR HOUSES AND WE BUY THE PROPERTY.

AND I'M GONNA SHOW YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT.

NEXT.

GO AHEAD.

SO, CREATOR HOUSE DALLAS, WE HAVE A SYSTEM, UM, DESIGNED FOR CREATORS IN DALLAS TO THRIVE AND GET BACK.

NEXT SLIDE.

HERE ARE THE FOUR PILLARS TO OUR SYSTEM.

WE COY AND OPERATE CAREER PROCESS.

WE RENOVATE THEM ON CAMERA.

THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT.

COMPONENT, HOMEMAKER AND SHOWS ARE REALLY HOT, AND WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO CREATE THAT KIND OF SHOW AND REALLY BRING IN PEOPLE THAT NEED TO SUPPORT EACH GREATER NSTITUTE OF RENOVATION PROCESS.

SO THE NEXT ONE THERE YOU'LL SEE IS THE CREATOR CURRICULUM.

UM, LEARN WHILE CREATING, DO, DO WHILE EARNING IS A REAL BIG PIECE OF, OF CURRICULUM AS WELL.

AND THEN THREE OVER THERE IS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

UH, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IS WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT WITH THE ARTS.

IT'S THE CREATION OF THINGS THAT DID NOT EXIST.

THE CREATIONS OF THE MIND, BOOKS, SONGS, FILMS, TV SHOWS, ALL OF THAT CAN BE TAUGHT WHILE DOING, THAT'S WHAT WE DO IN A CREATOR HOUSE.

AND THEN BRAND CAMPAIGNS IS HOW WE EARN INCOME FOR OUR CREATORS AND CREATOR HOUSES.

SO COBY AND OPERATE CREATOR HOUSES FOR THE FUTURE.

NEXT SLIDE.

THIS IS JUST AN IMAGE TO SHOW YOU.

UM, YES.

UM, UH, TRADITIONAL HOMES, INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, I'LL TELL YOU GUYS A LITTLE BIT OF A HISTORY LESSON.

UH, CREATING THINGS IN DWELLINGS HAS BEEN, HAS EXIST, EXISTED FOR HUMANITY FOR A LONG TIME.

SO AN EXAMPLE WOULD BE 73,000 YEARS AGO, THEY FOUND A LITTLE ROCK IN A CAVE.

AND THAT ROCK HAS A HASHTAG ON IT.

SOME CREATIVE PERSON DID THAT 40,000 YEARS AGO.

SOMEBODY PUT THEIR HAND ON A WALL AND SHOT INK TOWARDS IT, MOVED THEIR HAND, AND YOU COULD SEE HIS LITTLE HAND PRINT THERE.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THINGS THAT ARE MORE RECENT.

NOT SO RECENT, BUT THE WRIGHT BROTHERS WERE IN THEIR BACKYARD REPAIRING BICYCLES THAT THEY WANTED TO FLY.

SO THEY FLY STEVE JOBS AND CREATED AN APPLE COMPUTER WITH

[00:20:01]

HIS FRIEND IN A GARAGE, THE JACKSON FIVE, OR CREATING A LIVING ROOM OF A HOME.

PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CREATING THINGS IN HOMES, GREAT THINGS IN HOMES FOR ALL TIME, ALL TIME .

SO I WAS THE FIRST ONE WITH OUR TEAM TO OPERATIONALIZE THAT.

HOW CAN WE BUILD A SYSTEM THAT CAN BE IN A HOME, ALLOW PEOPLE TO CREATE THINGS AND MONETIZE THEM.

SO THAT'S WHAT THAT SLIDE REPRESENTS, IS CREATING AND A CREATOR HOUSE.

SO WE PURCHASED CREATOR HOUSE DOLLARS, JULY 20, UH, 23, PURCHASED IT FOR A MILLION DOLLARS, AND THEN IT INCREASE IN VALUE TO 1.4.

AND YOU SAY, OKAY, THAT'S COOL FOR THE REAL ESTATE PIECE, BUT THEN THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PIECE STEPS IN.

AND THAT'S WHERE WE MONETIZE WHAT WE CREATE AND ALSO EMPOWER THE TEAMS AND THEIR ADULTS PROCESS.

SO GO UNDER FRONT.

SO OUR CURRICULUM.

NEXT SLIDE.

LEARN WHILE CREATING IS A REALLY AWESOME THING TO DO, I I, I REMEMBER BEING, YOU KNOW, IN, IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY, I LIKE TO SAY IF THERE'S 2.5 KIDS AT A TABLE IN ANY HOUSEHOLD IN DALLAS, YOU'RE AN ATHLETE OR A LAWYER, YOU WANT YOUR KID TO DO THE SAME THING.

THERE'S A SYSTEM THAT COULD TAKE YOU FROM A TO Z BUT IF YOU'RE THAT CREATIVE KID THAT'S SITTING IN THAT, AT THAT TABLE, YOU'RE KIND OF ON YOUR OWN.

YOU GOTTA WING IT.

AND IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY.

AND BECAUSE I WAS EXPOSED TO HOW THE BUSINESS WORKS, I WAS ABLE TO BUILD A SYSTEM THAT SAYS, HEY, THIS IS HOW YOU COULD PURSUE BEING SUCCESSFUL AS A CREATIVE.

UH, AND THAT'S WHAT IT GOES.

SO LEARN LIFE AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS IS NUMBER ONE, IDENTIFY AND DEVELOP TALENTS.

NUMBER TWO, CREATE MONETIZE PROJECTS AS NUMBER THREE, PITCH AND EXECUTE BRAND, BRAND CAMPAIGNS.

START AND GROW COMPANIES AND OWN AND OPERATE CREATOR HOUSES.

AND I BELIEVE THIS CAN BE PUT NOT ONLY IN OUR CREATOR HOUSE, BUT WE CAN CONNECT IT TO THE MANY OTHER, UH, YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE CREATING IN THEIR BEDROOMS ONLINE RIGHT NOW.

SO, NEXT SLIDE.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IS HOW WE SCALE.

SO WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT ALL THIS STUFF, IT'S ONE THING TO CREATE THINGS, BUT PEOPLE HAVE TO SEE THAT HE'S HERE WITH ME RIGHT NOW, ARE CONTENT CREATORS, AND WE COLLECTIVELY REACH MILLIONS OF PEOPLE, OUR CHANNELS.

UH, FLEX IS HERE.

HE, HE'S A CREATOR IN IN IN RESIDENCE AND CREATOR HOUSE STYLIST.

AND HE HAS A CREATE, UH, INFLUENCER TEAM, WHAT WE CALL AU AUDIENCE, PRODUCERS OF 10 MILLION PEOPLE THAT HE REACHES.

IT IS NETWORK.

MEGAN IS A FILMMAKER, AND WHAT SHE CREATES, SHE'S PARTNERED WITH GREG RIM AT HBO RIGHT NOW MAKING THIS MOVIE RIGHT NOW THAT WE'RE ON.

SO, HEY GREG.

SO , WE'RE DOING IT RIGHT NOW.

SHE, WE HAVE HAVE HER TEAMED UP WITH A MENTOR THAT WAS 24 YEARS.

HE RAN DOCUMENTARY FILMS FOR HBO.

HE'S MAKING THIS MOVIE WITH US.

SO INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE.

SO, CREATING AND MONETIZING PROJECTS, IT'S REALLY AWESOME FOR NOT ONLY THE CREATORS OF RESIDENTS, THEY'RE CIRCLE OF CREATORS OUTSIDE THAT NETWORK.

IT'S ALSO THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN WATCHING US DO WHAT WE DO AND LEARNING HOW.

NEXT SLIDE, ONE OF THE SPECIAL PIECES OF IP IS THE CREATOR HOUSE RENOVATIONS.

SO IT'S A REALLY IMPORTANT WAY FOR US TO SHOW THIS THING THAT, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS REMEMBER THE EXTREME HOME EDITION SHOW.

MOVE THAT BUS.

WE'RE GONNA HAVE OUR MOVE THAT BUS MOMENT AND YOU'RE GONNA REVEAL HOW THESE HOMES BECOME CREATOR HOUSES AND, UH, CUSTOMIZE EXACTLY WHEN THE CREATORS IN THERE WHO ARE DOING TWO THINGS, LEARNING OUR CURRICULUM, BUT ALSO CREATING GREAT THINGS AND FINDING WAYS TO GIVE BACK.

SO WE WANT, WE WANT ALL THAT TO BE, UH, ILLUMINATED.

NEXT SLIDE.

GRAND CAMPAIGNS.

UM, HERE'S AN OLD SONG CALLED WHO'S ZOOM AND WHO WHO, WHO REMEMBERS THAT RECORD? ALRIGHT, READ FRANK.

WE FLIP THAT TO WHO'S ZOOMING YOU AND WHO'S ZOOMING YOU IS A REALLY FUN CAMPAIGN WHERE WE'RE TEAMING UP OUR CREATORS WITH BABY BOOMER BUSINESS OWNERS.

WE'RE LOOKING TO SELL.

WE LIKE TO SAY, HOW ARE YOU FEELING? TIRED? DID YOUR BACK HURT? WOULD YOU'D LIKE TO PASS THE BUSINESS ON TO THE NEXT GENERATION? YOU SHOULD MEET OUR DREAMERS.

AND THEY HELP THEM GET ONLINE.

WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING TO ME FOR? ? OKAY, SHE MAKES FUN OF ME ALL THE TIME BECAUSE LIKE, JUST KIDDING.

I, I'M EXCITED ABOUT THIS GUY.

SO ANYWAY, NEXT SLIDE.

I'LL SHOW YOU A BOOMER.

THAT'S JERRY HICKS.

HE RUNS GANTT AND HICKS LAW FIRM AND HE BROUGHT US THESE FOUR INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITIES.

JERRY'S BUT JERRY'S KIND OF TIRED.

CHARLIE'S LIKE, MAN, I JUST WANNA RETIRE.

WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH MILES TURNER? WHO'S AN NBA BALL PLAYER? CAN YOU HELP HIM, HIM ONLINE? UM, WE HAVE A TECH, WE'VE

[00:25:01]

INVESTED IN TEXAS TEA.

CAN YOU, UH, FIGURE OUT HOW TO PREPARE TEXAS TEA FOR THE NEXT GENERATION? WE'RE DOING $12 MILLION.

CAN YOU DOUBLE OUR REVENUE SO WE CAN SELL THE COMPANY? UM, V ONE, I'VE GOT A PLOT OF LAND I'D LIKE TO DONATE FOR YOU GUYS TO BUILD EVENTS CENTER BECAUSE EVENTS IN THE HOMES, IT'S NOT SOMETHING WE WANT TO DO.

WE WANT OUR OWN LITTLE EVENTS CENTER.

SO ANYWAY, JERRY DONATED THAT PLOT OF PROFIT LAND FOR US TO DO THAT.

BUT IT GIVES YOU A SENSE OF, WE'VE IDENTIFIED THIS GREAT BUSINESSMAN IN DALLAS, TEXAS THAT SAYS, YES, I HAVE MADE GREAT INVESTMENTS.

I AM GOOD AT BUSINESS.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH TIKTOK OR INSTAGRAM OR YOUTUBE AND HOW THAT CAN IMPACT MY BUSINESS.

CAN YOU GUYS HELP ME OUT? SO HE BECOMES OUR, UH, WHAT WE CALL OUR KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER MENTOR IN THE CREATOR HOUSE.

HE BRINGS US THESE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AND OUR ZOOMERS GET TO MAKE 'EM HAPPEN.

SO THAT'S AN EXAMPLE OF HOW WE GET OUT WITH, UH, BABY BOOMER BUSINESS OWNERS.

NEXT SLIDE.

I'M REALLY PROUD OF MY NETWORK AND OUR PARTNERS, BUT I'M GONNA SHOW YOU A FEW OF 'EM.

OUR PARTNERS, CLIENTS AND SPONSORS.

NEXT SLIDE.

SO THE JACKSON WALKER LAW FIRM, AS YOU GUYS KNOW FOR SURE, LEGAL EXPENSES ARE GOING THROUGH THE ROOF, UM, THE EXPEN.

AND WE'RE CREATING TONS OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY STARTING COMPANIES FROM SCRATCH, PARTNERING WITH ALL THESE GREAT BUSINESS OWNERS.

AND WE JUST, I JUST WAS LOOKING AT, YES, OKAY.

I CREATED SOMETHING THAT WORKED.

HOW AM I EVER GONNA AFFORD ALL THESE LEGAL EXPENSES? SO I PITCHED, UM, A GENTLEMAN BY THE NAME OF DAVID REX TO BECOME A KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER AT BIGGER HOUSE.

HE'S DONE 350 TRANSACTIONS AS A PRIVATE EQUITY INVESTOR, $10 BILLION OF REVENUE.

AND HE SAID, I THINK THAT MY PREVIOUS WORK AT JACKSON WALKER WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU.

SO HE INTRODUCED ME TO THE TEAM AT JACKSON WALKER AND THEY DECIDED TO PRO BONO SUPPORT OUR CREATOR HOUSE.

THAT'S REALLY AWESOME.

'CAUSE I'M LOOKING AT HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LEGAL BILLS, BILLS AND BILLS THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO COME TO THE DALLAS PARK RECREATION TO HELP YOU PAY FOR.

ANYWAY, .

SO COMERICA BANK IS ANOTHER ONE.

UM, COMERICA CAME TO OUR CREATOR HOUSE.

THEY HAD THIS CONTEST WHERE THEY TOLD THEIR EMPLOYEES ALL 7,000 ACROSS THE MARKET NATION.

YOU GUYS GO FIND THE NEXT COOL BUSINESSES OUT THERE AND TELL US WHO THEY ARE.

SO THEY BROUGHT ALL, THEY THEIR, THEIR EMPLOYEES WENT OUT THERE, THEY CAME BACK, THEY PUT IN A DATABASE AND WE GOT A PHONE CALL.

'CAUSE ONE OF 'EM CAME TO THE CREATOR HOUSE AND HE SAID, CAN YOU COME BY THE BANK? I WENT BY THE BANK AND I'M SITTING AT THE BANK AT GUY'S DESK AND HE PULLS UP AN INTERNAL, UM, UM, VIEW OF, OF THEIR DATABASE AND HE'S GOT ALL THESE LITTLE PICTURES OF ALL THESE COMPANIES.

AND HE SAYS, AND OUT OF ALL THESE COMPANIES, YOU GUYS WERE MOST VOTED BY OUR EMPLOYEES.

I WAS LIKE, WHAT? PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD , WE'D LIKE TO BE IN BUSINESS WITH YOU.

I'M LIKE, YES.

SO WE CAN THAT, THAT'S QUI RIGHT THERE.

QUI.

MR. JACKSON, THIS HAS NO CONNECTION TO YOUR DISCUSSION ON LEGAL FEES, BUT WE NEED TO START TAKING QUESTIONS IN ABOUT THREE MINUTES.

OKAY, GOOD.

THIS LAST SLIDE.

ALRIGHT, QUILLER, QUILLER IS AWESOME.

QUI ALLOWS AS A DIGITAL WAY TO PITCH CAMPAIGNS AND THEY GAVE WHAT'S CALLED A TRADE OUT SPONSOR, UM, EVENT, NOR SPONSORS FLEX'S WORK, RIVERSIDE SPONSORS MEGAN'S WORK AND GANT, I JUST TOLD YOU ABOUT THAT A SECOND AGO.

NEXT SLIDE.

SO CREATOR HOUSE, DALLAS TEAM.

NEXT SLIDE.

SO, BRETT THOMAS BUILT A STAGEN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, UM, WITH RAND STAGIN, MY FORMER ROOMMATE WHO'S AND KING HOLLI IS HERE AS A FILMMAKER.

FLEX IS AN EVENTS PRODUCER, MEGAN'S, UH, ACTOR AND CONTENT CREATOR.

ARIEL'S A CREATIVE DIRECTOR, VICTORIA'S, WHO HERE IS A SINGER.

AND THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF GREAT MENTORS AT THE TOP TEAMING UP AND POURING INTO NEXT GENERATION CREATIVE.

AND THAT IS YOUR PRESENTATION OF CREATOR HOUSES.

AWESOME.

OH, OH, OH.

HEY MARTIN.

SEE YOU GIRL ON CAMERA.

YEAH, YOU CAN'T SEE ME THOUGH, BUT I'M HERE.

HEY, , THANKS FOR NOMINATING US.

DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? SO, COMING TO US TODAY TO TALK ABOUT YOUR, UH, CREATOR HOUSE.

UH, IT'S FASCINATING.

AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN DOING THIS? CREATE THE CREATOR HOUSE BUSINESS FOR EIGHT YEARS? UM, I'VE BEEN LOS ANGELES AND I WANTED TO COME HOME BECAUSE THEN I STARTED MY CAREER.

SO I MADE IT HEADQUARTERS, DALLAS, TEXAS.

AND I'VE BEEN HERE SINCE JULY 23.

AND JUST TWO OTHER QUESTIONS, UH, BEING HERE TODAY, BESIDES INTRODUCING YOURSELVES TO ALL OF US, ARE YOU SEEKING SOMETHING? YEAH.

AND, AND THEN ALSO JUST SECONDLY, HOW DO YOU CURRENTLY FUND YOUR

[00:30:01]

PROJECTS? THAT'S AWESOME QUESTION.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

UM, YES, ABSOLUTELY.

WE'RE SEEKING TO LEARN AS MUCH AS WE CAN ABOUT HOW WE CAN SUPPORT WORK THAT WE'VE BEEN AWARE OF ACCOMPLISHES ONE.

UM, BUT TWO, THERE ARE TWO AREAS OF OUR BUSINESS THAT WE'VE BEEN SEEKING.

ONE IS, YOU KNOW, WE'D LIKE TO PUT OUR CURRICULUM ONLINE AND, AND, UM, IN REAL LIFE IN OUR CREATOR HOUSE FOUR TIMES A YEAR OR EIGHT WEEKS.

SO MAYBE HELP US FIND THAT.

AND WE'D ALSO LIKE TO SEE HOW WE CAN WORK DEVELOPMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, HOW WE ILLUMINATE OUR WORK AND THE SHOWS WE CREATE, THINGS LIKE THAT, THAT PUT A SPOTLIGHT NOT ONLY CREATOR HOUSES, BUT CREATORS IN THE CITY, THE MENTORS POURING INTO THEM, THE ACTIVITIES WE DO IN THE COMMUNITY AND ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF.

SO I, IP INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, SUPPORT AND CAREER SUPPORT DO THIS.

THE NEXT ONE THAT YOU ASKED ME ABOUT WAS THE, UH, HOW DO WE FUND WHAT WE DO? SO I OBVIOUSLY AM AM AN INVESTOR IN ALL OF THIS, BUT WE COY CREATOR HOUSES.

SO, UH, ALL MY CREATORS CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE LLC THAT IS ON ONE SIDE, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

THE OTHER SIDE, REAL ESTATE, THE SAME LC.

SO WE POUR IT BACK.

WE HAVE, WE HAVE AN AFFILIATED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION CALLED CONSCIOUS COALITION.

AND WE HAVE DONORS THAT MAKE DONATIONS.

WE GENERATE REVENUE THROUGH CAMPAIGNS, AND WE ALSO HAVE INVESTORS THAT COME IN AS WELL.

SO THAT'S HOW WE FUND OUR WORK.

OKAY, THANK YOU.

I I WANNA SAY IT'S FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMISSIONERS.

UH, THEY DO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP IN TERMS OF KING HOLLIS AND DELL.

THEY'VE WORKED WITH LYNN, UH, IN TERMS OF PRODUCING, UH, SOME FILMS THAT HAVE BEEN FUNDED BY THE OAC AT LEAST TWO.

IS THAT RIGHT, LYNN? SO, UM, YES.

A LOT OF THEM, LIKE WE RECEIVED A NATIONAL PARK SERVICE GRANT AND COMMUNITY FUNDS FOR RISING THE HALL OF NEW YORK.

AND WE LOVE OUR FILMS. .

YES.

SO KING AND LINDELL, UH, THEY DO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE OAC.

YEAH.

AND WE GO BACK TO NINTH GRADE HIGH SCHOOL.

SO OH, WE ARE, WE'RE BOYS.

WE'RE CALLED MS. FLYNN'S BOYS.

SHE WAS OUR ENGLISH TEACHER.

WHAT WAS THE NAME OF YOUR AFFILIATED NONPROFIT CONSCIOUS COALITION? 5 0 1 C3.

ARE THEY BASED IN DALLAS? YES.

SO CAN YOU LIKE, JUST TO UNDERSTAND HOW YOU WORK.

SO THE, SO YOU OFFER RESIDENCIES IN THE CREATOR HOUSE AND THERE'S AN APPLICATION PROCESS, AND SO YOU'RE REALLY LIFTING UP THE ARTIST AND HELPING THEM GO THROUGH THIS WHOLE PROCESS OF LEARNING HOW TO BE, HOW TO LIVE, HOW TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES AS RIGHT.

UM, SO LIKE, AND MAYBE YOU'RE ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH THIS, BUT I THINK ONE OF THE GREAT PARTNERSHIPS MIGHT BE TO BE SURE THAT YOUR ARTISTS KNOW ABOUT WHAT FUNDING IS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CITY.

FOR EXAMPLE, THE ARTS ACTIVATE GRANTS.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS HAVE ENCOURAGED YOUR ARTISTS TO DO THAT, BUT I DON'T SEE HOW WE HELP WITH THE FOR-PROFIT SIDE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

BUT WE HAVE, UM, CAP CAP PROGRAMMING.

ALWAYS FORGET WHAT THAT STANDS FOR.

WHAT DOES IT STAND FOR? COMMUNITY ARTIST PROGRAM.

COMMUNITY ARTIST PROGRAM WHERE THE CITY, CITY FUNDING PAYS ARTISTS THAT ARE, UH, JURIED AND ON THE CAP LIST.

THEN FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE CITY TO PAY THEM FOR THEIR PERFORMANCES OR ARTS ACTIVATE GRANTS, WHICH ARE INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM GRANTS.

THERE ARE PROGRAMS THAT ARE DONE IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND WE HAVE THREE TRANCHES OF FUNDING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

SO, AND THAT'S JUST WHAT I CAN TELL YOU OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD.

BUT ONE THING THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD PARTNERSHIP WOULD BE FOR YOU TO HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT FUNDING MIGHT BE AVAILABLE TO THE CREATORS WHO ARE IN RESIDENCE FOR A PARTICULAR PROGRAM.

AND THEN YOUR FOR-PROFIT SIDE, HELPING THEM LEARN HOW THEY TAKE THAT TO THE NEXT STEP IN A FOR-PROFIT WORLD.

AM I, AM I OFF BASE? MR. WE'RE ON, AM I RIGHT ON TARGET? ON BASE.

SOMETIMES I GET OFF ON A TANGENT.

SO, UH, SO IT'S SUPER, SUPER EXCITING PROGRAM.

I LOVE, I LOVE THE WAY THAT YOU WERE MESHING BOTH, YOU KNOW, A LOT OF TIMES WE SEE PEOPLE COME IN JUST WITH THE NONPROFIT SIDE OF THE ARTS.

SO IT'S REALLY WONDERFUL TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE MENTORING ARTIST TO, UM, TO LEARN HOW TO LIVE, LIVE AS ARTISTS AND MAKE A LIVING AS ARTISTS DOING THE WORK THAT THEY WANT TO DO.

SO THANK YOU.

I APPLAUD YOU VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU FOR THAT.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE'RE DOING.

SO THANK YOU.

THANK YOU FOR THAT INSIGHT AS WELL.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS HERE? MIND? ANY OTHER COMMENTS FROM THE COMMISSIONERS? THE HOUSE LOOKS COOL.

IT DID.

NEXT TIME, BRING A VIDEO TO THEM.

, WE HAVE .

OH, YES.

UH, TINO, I SEE YOUR HAND RAISED.

YES.

THANK YOU.

THANKS FOR BEING HERE AND, AND GIVING US AN OVERVIEW ABOUT CREATOR HOUSE.

I'M JUST CURIOUS, UM, DO THESE ARTISTS THAT YOU WORK WITH, UM, ARE THEY PAYING YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES? ARE THEY, ARE THEY INVESTING WITH YOU? OR HOW, HOW DOES, HOW DOES THE ARTIST GET

[00:35:01]

YOUR MENTORSHIP? THANK YOU.

YES, THANK YOU FOR ASKING.

UH, THE QUESTION IS, HOW DO THE ARTISTS PAY US OR HOW DO THEY GET ACCESS TO WHAT WE DO NOW? DOUBT DON'T PAY US.

WE INVEST IN THE TALENT.

WE, UH, I'M ABLE TO PULL IN SPONSORS AND DONORS AND INVESTORS TO POUR INTO THE NEXT GENERATION OF CREATORS.

AND, UM, THEY APPLY, YOU KNOW, TO BE A CREATOR OF RESIDENTS.

AND THEN, SO THERE'S PROBABLY TWO TO FIVE OF THOSE THAT ARE RESIDENTS.

AND THEN THEY HAVE A CIRCLE OF CREATORS, THEN THEY HAVE THEIR FOLLOWERS, MILLIONS OF FOLLOWERS.

SO THAT WHOLE ECOSYSTEM IS SUPPORTED BY, UH, OUR, OUR ABILITY TO PUT THE SPONSORS CAMPAIGNS AND PROGRESSIVE COMMISSIONER, OH, I'M SORRY.

ARE YOU, UH, COMMISSIONER OMO? WAS THERE A FOLLOW UP? YES.

JUST THE RANGE OF ARTISTS.

IS IT PERFORMANCE, VISUAL MAGICIANS, ET CETERA, ET CETERA? THE RANGE OF ARTISTS ARE, I WOULD SAY INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, WE, WE HAVE TO BE OPEN.

OUR CURRICULUM APPLIES TO ANY KIND OF CREATOR ENDEAVOR, BUT IT'S, IT'S A, RIGHT NOW WE HAVE SINGERS, EVENT PRODUCERS, FILMMAKERS, APP DEVELOPERS, YOU KNOW, SO IT'S, IT'S A, IT'S A BROAD RANGE, BUT THEY ALL NEED THE SAME THING, INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH.

AND THAT'S, THEY ALL NEED TO KIND OF JUST SUPPORT THE ECOSYSTEM, THE ACCESS TO CAPITAL AND, UH, MENTORSHIP, THAT KIND OF THING.

SO WE GET 'EM, LIKE I SAID, MEGAN HAS A, A MENTOR THAT'S KING HOL AND LINDELL AND, AND GREG GRM.

AND FLEX DOESN'T NECESSARILY NEED THOSE MENTORS, BUT HE NEEDS DIFFERENT KINDS FOR HIM.

SO WE CAN GET HIM ACCESS TO LIKE BRETT THOMAS AND OTHER PEOPLE LIKE THAT, THAT CAN HELP HIM BE MOBILE.

MOBILE.

THAT'S WHAT HE WANTS TO DO.

SO EVERY CREATOR KINDA HAS THEIR OWN THING, BUT WE PROVIDE THE SAME KIND OF SYSTEM.

AND, AND SO THANK YOU COMMISSIONER HORNBUCKLE.

WELL, I LIKE TO SAY THIS SOUNDS FANTASTIC.

UM, THANK YOU.

I'M, I'M CURIOUS, WHERE, WHERE IS THE HOUSE LOCATED? THIS ONE IS IN, IN, UH, NORTH DALLAS OFF OF SPRING VALLEY AND MEANDER WAY.

AND, AND, AND DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA WHERE YOUR NEXT HEY KRISTEN, I'M SORRY, I THINK WE'RE YOUR ZONE OR SOMETHING, RIGHT? IT'S ABOUT THREE MINUTES AWAY FROM THE GALLERY.

MALL.

I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S 11 OR 10 OR, YOU KNOW, I'M STILL IN THE NEW DALLAS RESIDENT.

WE THINK IT'S 1111 MM-HMM.

, I THINK.

THUMBS UP.

THAT'S CHRIS.

DO DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS TO, UH, UH, PUT YOUR HOMES IN OTHER LOCATIONS? YES.

AND, AND, UH, DO YOU HAVE A TARGET AREA THAT YOU HAVE IN MIND? FORTUNATELY, UH, THERE'S A NEED FOR CREATOR HOUSES ALL OVER THE WORLD, BUT IN DALLAS, TEXAS, FOR SURE, I AM, I'M EXCITED ABOUT, UM, NOT ONLY WE'RE, WE'RE NETWORKING ALL CREATORS WHO ARE OPERATING IN THEIR OWN HOMES RIGHT NOW.

SO EVERY SINGLE CREATOR HERE THAT YOU SEE THAT CAME WITH US ARE ALL A CREATOR IN THEIR OWN HOME.

SO IT'S KIND OF, THOSE ARE SATELLITES PER SE.

AND THEN AS THE NEED GROWS, CREATOR HOUSE DALLAS HEADQUARTERS IS TRULY HEADQUARTERS, WHICH IS FOCUSED ON THE OPERATING SYSTEM FOR ALL CREATOR HOUSES.

SO WE PLAN ON BUYING IN DIFFERENT, UH, AREAS OF, OF TOWN AS WELL.

NEXT DOOR.

OH YEAH, YEAH.

NEXT DOOR JUST CAME UP FOR SALE.

I'M GONNA TRY TO FIND THAT ONE.

WE'LL SEE.

.

SO AS IT RELATES TO FUNDING, I THINK YOU ALREADY HEARD THE, UH, THE RECOMMENDATION OF, UH, COMMISSIONER BRAGGA ALONG.

UH, BUT AT SOME POINT THEY STILL NEED TO DEAL WITH JULIA.

WOULD YOU AGREE? WELL, AND I THINK, I MEAN, I'M JUST THINKING, CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE MORE FOR YOUR INDIVIDUAL CREATORS TO SEE IF THEY FIT, RIGHT? BECAUSE YOU DON'T FIT IN THE COP FUNDING AT ALL, I DON'T THINK, BASED UPON WHAT I'VE HEARD SO FAR.

BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT A NON-PROFIT, RIGHT? THAT'D BE RIGHT.

WOULD THAT BE RIGHT? ARE YOU A NONPROFIT? YOU ARE A NONPROFIT.

SO THE WHOLE THING IS IT MIGHT FIT UNDER COP, SO YEAH, THEY'RE LIKE, I MEAN, I JUST CORRELATION.

YEAH.

OKAY.

SO I THINK THE THING WOULD BE TO LOOK AT, UM, JUST TO LOOK, YES, GET WITH JULIA AND TALK ABOUT IT OR LOOK AT THE WEBSITE AS I TOLD THE EARLIER PRESENTER AT WHAT OUR FUNDING PROGRAMS ARE.

BUT I MEAN, WE HAVE A LOT OF FUNDING PROGRAMS, UH, WITH THE CITY, BOTH FOR ORGANIZATIONS AND FOR ARTISTS.

SO I WOULD LOOK AT IT AT BOTH LEVELS.

IS THERE FUNDING THAT MAKES SENSE FOR YOU AS AN ORGANIZATION, BUT ALSO SINCE YOU'RE MENTORING ALL OF THESE CREATORS, HELPING TO MA HELPING TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THOSE GRANT PROGRAMS THAT ARE OUT THERE TO FUND THE START OF THEIR PROGRAM.

AND THEN WHAT'S REALLY INTERESTING TO ME ABOUT YOUR PROJECT IS TAKING IT THE NEXT STEP FROM, FROM NOT, NOT ALWAYS RELYING

[00:40:01]

ON, LIKE GRANT FUNDING IS ONLY ONE WAY FOR THE ARTIST TO FUND THEIR WORK.

BUT THEN, THEN THERE IS ALSO THE OTHER SIDE OF BUILDING THE PROFITABILITY OF THE WORK OUTSIDE OF THE GRANT PROCESS, WHICH, AND BOTH ARE IMPORTANT.

I DON'T THINK YOU EVER AS AN ARTIST GO AWAY FROM ONE OR THE OTHER.

RIGHT? SO, BUT, BUT THERE IS MONEY THERE, UM, FOR INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMS BY ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS.

SO, AND I THINK THE FLIP SIDE OF THIS EQUATION IS IF YOU ARE PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS THAT ARE HERE IN DALLAS, UH, THEN, UH, I WOULD THROW A QUESTION OUT TO COMMISSIONER MEEK.

UH, VICKI, IF YOU CAN, UH, IF YOU CAN HEAR THIS QUESTION, UH, WOULD THAT FIT UNDER THE AVAILABILITY OF SPACE FOR, UH, FOR ARTISTS? AND BECAUSE WE WERE DISCUSSING THAT IN THE, UH, IN OUR PLANS, UH, EQUITY PLAN? WELL, I WOULD THINK, I WOULD THINK ANYTHING THAT HAD TO DO WITH ARTISTS HOUSING, UM, WOULD BE OPEN TO DISCUSSION WITH.

I MEAN, WE, WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING YET, BUT WE ARE CERTAINLY LOOKING AT WAYS IN WHICH THE CITY CAN BE MORE SUPPORTIVE REGARDING, UH, ACCESSIBILITY TO FACILITIES FOR ARTISTS, ESPECIALLY INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS.

AMAZING.

SO, I, I'M JUST TRYING TO THINK OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY THAT WE CAN, WELL, WHAT I'M SAYING, THERE'S NO OPPORTUNITY YET.

'CAUSE THERE'S NOTHING YET THAT'S CONCRETE.

WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF DISCUSSING THE NEEDS OF ARTISTS AND HOW WE CAN MEET THOSE NEEDS, UM, AS WE ARE BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND THEM, UH, IN THE AREA OF FACILITY ACCESSIBILITY.

SO I'M SAYING THERE'S NO PROGRAMS, SO TO SPEAK, YET.

YES.

BUT CERTAINLY WE WOULD WANNA KNOW FROM THEIR PERSPECTIVE, CREATIVE CREATOR HOUSE PER PERSPECTIVE, WHAT KINDS OF THINGS THEY'RE SEEING AND WHAT KINDS OF THINGS THAT MIGHT JIVE WITH WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT.

WE'D LOVE TO SHARE THAT WITH YOU, VICKI.

VERY GOOD.

UH, ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, UH, FOR THE CREATOR HOUSE COMMISSIONERS, THIS IS, UH, A FANTASTIC PROGRAM AND YOU GOT GREAT PEOPLE.

THANK YOU.

GREAT PEOPLE.

YOU GUYS ARE WELCOME TO COME VISIT CREATOR HOUSE ANYTIME.

WE WOULD LOVE TO DO THAT.

WE BETTER INFORMATION.

BE GLAD TO DO THAT.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

SO WE WILL, UH, CONTINUE OUR AGENDA.

UH, WE DO HAVE, UM, A COUPLE OF VOTING AGENDA ITEMS. 'CAUSE EVERYONE HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK AT, UH, THE MINUTES, UH, FROM THE SEPTEMBER 19TH MEETING.

YES.

UH, THE APPROVED AS DECEMBER, WE HAVE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES BY, UH, COMMISSIONER NUGENT MOVE.

I, I THINK, UH, GLOVER RAISED HER HAND A SECOND BEFORE, SO LET'S TAKE, UH, SECOND IT BY COMMISSIONER GLOVER I'S BEEN MOVED AND, AND, UH, SECOND IT, UH, ALL IN FAVOR? AYE.

AYE.

OKAY.

WE AYE WE REDUCED THE SCREEN FOR THE VISIBILITY OF EVERYONE ONLINE SO WE CAN OKAY, THERE WE GO.

UH, ALL IN FAVOR OPPOSED? AYE.

UM, UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED AT THE SEPTEMBER 19TH, UH, MEETING MINUTES AND, UH, WE HAVE A MEETING SCHEDULED THAT HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN THE PACKET.

HAS EVERYONE AND I, I WOULD LIKE TO BRING ATTENTION.

25, UH, THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER.

I THINK WE MOVED THE MEETING FROM THE THIRD THURSDAY.

THAT, DID WE DISCUSS THAT? I JUST WANT BE CLEAR, I DON'T HAVE THE, I DON'T HAVE THE MEETING SCHEDULED IN FRONT OF ME AS IT YES.

IN YOUR BRIEFING.

OKAY.

HERE, I THINK IT WAS NOVEMBER, IS THAT CORRECT? 20TH.

HOLD ON.

I'VE SEE THE, I THINK WE DISCUSSED MOVING THE, WELL, THANKSGIVING IS THE 27TH I THINK ON, OKAY, SO THAT'S IT.

YES.

[00:45:01]

IT'S BECAUSE IT WOULD BE THE FOURTH, SINCE WE NORMALLY MEET THE FOURTH THURSDAY.

IF YOU DON'T MOVE IT TO THE 20TH, THEN WE'RE YES.

MEETING ON EXACTLY THANKSGIVING.

SO NOT GONNA HAVE A COURT.

EXACTLY.

SO WE MOVED, WE MOVED IT.

SO IS EVERYBODY YEAH, WE MOVED IT, UM, YEAH, TO THE 20TH.

SO WHAT TO THE 20TH? UH, NOVEMBER 20TH TO THE THIRD.

THURSDAY INSTEAD OF THE FOURTH THURSDAY.

YES.

WE USUALLY MEET THIRD THURSDAY.

NOVEMBER 21ST IS THE THIRD.

THURSDAY IT'S THE THIRD.

OH, OKAY.

NEVERMIND.

YES.

SO THAT'S NOT MOVING.

BUT WE DID MOVE APRIL, I THINK IT WAS THE APRIL, APRIL 8TH AND THE JUNE MEETING.

YES.

APRIL.

YES.

SO THOSE ARE THE TWO THAT CHANGED JUNE 19TH.

SO WE MOVED APRIL AS TO NOT CONFLICT WITH EASTER.

JUNE 19TH IS, AND WE MOVED JUNETEENTH.

YEAH.

AND WE MOVED JUNE AS TO NOT CONFLICT WITH JUNETEENTH.

THAT, SO THAT'S, UH, IF THIS SCHEDULE, ANYONE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT DATES? I DO.

HEY, COMMISSIONER.

ME? YEAH.

UM, I DIDN'T, I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS, UM, A PROBLEM, BUT THE 21ST OF NOVEMBER IS THE PAC GALA.

JUST SO YOU KNOW, SOME OF US WILL PLEASE ATTENDING SINCE TIME.

OKAY.

UM, I WOULD DEFER TO MARTINE, BUT THAT IS THE 20TH IS VICKY OR THE 21ST? THE 21ST.

SO THE MEETING ON THE 20TH.

OH, YOU, YOU'RE SAYING THE MEETING IS ON THE 20TH? YEAH, THE MEETING'S ON THE 20TH.

NOVEMBER 20TH.

NO, THAT'S FOR 2025.

I'M TALKING ABOUT THE ONE THAT'S NEXT MONTH.

OH, YOU MEAN NEXT MONTH.

AH, GOT IT.

THEY HAVE THEIR GALA ON THURSDAY.

THAT'S WHAT THEY TOLD ME.

MY INVITATION IS LOST IN THE MAIL.

UH, THEY'RE, I THINK, UH, WE WILL PROBABLY TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION IN TRYING TO CUT OUT EARLY.

SO WE'LL TRY TO MOVE THE AGENDA QUICKLY IF THAT'S OKAY WITH EVERYONE.

CAN THE, CAN THE MEETING BE BLACK TIE ? YES.

MICKEY IN YOUR BALLGOWN.

YES.

YOU CAN COME AND SPARKLES .

BUT UH, SO ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE 24 25 MEETING SCHEDULE? WE ARE EXACTLY.

I THOUGHT I SAW IT.

I I KNOW AHEAD OF TIME I'LL NOT BE AT THE AUGUST MEETING.

I KNOW THAT AHEAD OF TIME I'LL BE OUTTA THE COUNTRY.

OKAY.

AH, GOT IT.

ALRIGHT, ME TOO.

THANKS.

OKAY.

UM, ANY QUESTIONS? IF THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS, CAN WE GET A MOTION ON THE, UH, 24 25 MEETING SCHEDULED? SO, SECOND.

OKAY, SECOND.

SO WE'VE GOT COMMISSIONER BRAG ALONE WITH THE MOTION AND COMMISSIONER MEEK WITH THE SECOND.

ALL IN FAVOR? AYE.

AYE.

AYE.

OPPOSED? IT UNANIMOUSLY, UH, IS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

BE GOT 24 25 SCHEDULE AND IT'S PRINTED.

ALRIGHT.

UH, BRIEFINGS WILL BE BRIEF.

UM, NO CHANGES.

OTHER, EVERYONE RECEIVED THE LIAISON, UM, ASSIGNMENTS LAST MONTH PRIOR TO THE MEETING, BUT IT WAS SO CLOSE TO THE MEETING.

WE AGREED TO PUT IT OFF FOR A MONTH.

UH, IF THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS, I'M GOING TO DEEM THOSE CONFIRMED UNLESS THEY'RE OKAY.

UH, BRAD, SPELL MR. PEL.

I'M SORRY.

ARE YOU, ARE YOU MUTED? WE CAN'T HEAR HEAR.

WE CANNOT HEAR YOU PROCEED.

I AM, I, UH, YOU'RE, WE STILL CANNOT HEAR COMMISSIONER SPELL.

DO YOU WANNA TYPE IT IN THE CHAT, SIR? MAYBE WE CAN, WE CAN READ OUT LOUD FOR YOU AND THEN WHILE WE'RE WAITING ON THAT, COMMISSIONER MEEK, SOME REASON CAN'T, I CAN'T HEAR.

YOU'RE MUTED.

YOU, YOU ARE MUTED.

WE CAN SEE THE LITTLE MICROPHONE MUTED.

SIGN.

VICKI, CHAIR PEL NOTED THAT THE ORGANIZATIONS LISTED FOR HIM OR NOT.

CORRECT?

[00:50:02]

SAME WITH ME.

WAS IT THE ONE THAT THOSE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND THEY, WHEN WE LAST, LAST MEETING AND THEY DID NOT GET CHANGED? EVIDENTLY.

OKAY.

WE WILL, WE WILL MAKE THE CHANGE THAT, UH, FOR VICKI, WE DISCUSSED THAT WITH JULIA.

SO THAT CHANGE WILL BE MADE.

VICKI AND, UH, COMMISSIONER PEL, UM, WE HAD DISCUSSED IT WAS KIND ENOUGH TO TAKE ON AN ADDITIONAL, UH, ORGANIZATION.

IS THAT CORRECT? COMMISSIONER PEL, I BELIEVE YOU ARE MUTED.

WE SEE YOUR MUTED MICROPHONE READING FROM THE CHAT AGAIN.

UH, ON BEHALF OF, UH, COMMISSIONER SPELL.

HE'S NOTING HE ALSO HAS TURTLE CREEK CORRAL INSTEAD OF KARA FOR THE RECORD.

OKAY.

SEND THAT, UH, SEND ME THAT EMAIL AND WE'LL MAKE THAT ADJUSTMENT.

OKAY.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? I OFFICER HERE FOR NASH NASHER SCULPTURE CENTER AND JULIA SAID I WAS IN.

OKAY.

SHE, SHE, SHE HADN'T SENT THE CONFIRMATION? NO.

OKAY.

SHE WILL.

UM, ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? THEY'RE BEING DONE.

UM, SO THERE WE HAVE IT.

YOU'LL RECEIVE THOSE CONFIRMATIONS.

UH, I DO WANNA MENTION THIS.

UH, IN THE PAST WE'VE HAD, UH, WE'VE ASKED FOR LIAISON REPORTS MONTHLY FROM THREE ORGANIZATIONS.

BUT NOW THAT WE HAVE NEW ORGANIZATIONS, SOME PEOPLE ARE TAKING ON FOUR INSTEAD OF THREE.

UH, SO ANYONE THAT IS, THAT HAS FOUR RATHER THAN, AND UH, COMMISSIONER OMO HAS GRACIOUSLY ACCEPTED ANOTHER ORGANIZATION AS WELL.

RATHER THAN EXPECTING THREE OR FOUR, UH, FROM YOU GUYS EVERY MONTH, UH, EVERY OTHER MONTH, YOU JUST DO TWO PER MONTH.

RIGHT.

SO YOU CAN JUST REPORT ON THEM EVERY OTHER MONTH AND THAT'LL, THAT'LL BE EASIER FOR THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE FOUR.

UM, AND THAT'LL BE THE EXPECTATION MOVING FORWARD.

RIGHT? COMMISSIONER DIDN'T REALIZE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO SUBMIT, UH, LIAISON REPORTS MONTHLY.

IT HASN'T BEEN ANY TYPE OF REPRIMAND, BUT THAT IS THE EXPECTATION THAT WE GIVE MONTHLY REPORTS.

OKAY.

THAT IS THE EXPECTATION.

SO WE, YEAH, WE WILL TRY TO DO BETTER.

WE'LL BE PROMPTED.

OKAY.

ALRIGHT.

OKAY.

UH, I'M SORRY.

REALLY QUICKLY BEFORE WE MOVE ON, WOULD YOU MIND DOING A 30 OVERVIEW? THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME BEING ON THE BOARD.

UM, I'M SORRY, COMMISSIONER.

BEST, UH, I, YOU'RE, IT WAS BREAKING UP A LITTLE BIT.

I DIDN'T GET THE WHOLE QUESTION.

YEAH.

SO THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME SUBMITTING A REPORT SINCE BEING ON THE BOARD.

SO WOULD YOU MIND DOING 32ND SUMMARY OF KIND OF WHAT'S EXPECTED IN THOSE? SURE.

AS A MATTER OF FACT, UH, YOU WILL HAVE A FORM, UM, AND YEAH, AND WE WILL EMAIL YOU THE FORM.

OKAY.

AND BASICALLY, UH, IN ADDITION TO KEEPING THE COMMISSIONERS, UH, ABREAST OF WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE ORGANIZATION, UH, YOU ALSO ARE THE LIAISON TO LET THE ORGANIZATION KNOW WHAT'S AVAILABLE WITH THE OAC.

SO THAT'S BASICALLY IT.

AND, UH, HOPEFULLY YOU'LL DEVELOP LIKE A, A TRUE FRIENDSHIP AND RAPPORT WITH THE ORGANIZATION.

UM, THEORETICALLY UNDER THE RULES, UH, WE'RE, THE WAY THE RULE READS IS THAT THEY'RE, UH, THE LIAISONS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE, UM, UH, APPOINTED EVERY TWO YEARS AND, UH, OR AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CHAIR.

SO, UH, AT MY DISCRETION, THE WAY I SEE IT IS IF IT'S WORKING WELL WITH THE ORGANIZATION, THERE'S NO NEED TO CHANGE IT.

THERE'S NO, THERE IS NO NEED TO CHANGE IT.

SO, UH, IF IF EVERYBODY'S FINE WITH WHAT THEY'RE DOING, THEN LET'S KEEP DOING THAT.

SO, UM, AS SOMEBODY WHO IS NOT GOOD ABOUT DOING THE LIAISON REPORTS AND OFTEN DOESN'T FIND TIME TO READ FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ARE GOOD, AND SINCE THIS IS ALL WITHIN YOUR DISCRETION, I WOULD JUST LIKE TO BRING UP THE THOUGHT OF MAYBE LOOKING AT THIS IN FUTURE MONTHS ABOUT WHAT REALLY MAKES SENSE IN TERMS OF BEING EFFECTIVE.

IF YOU THINK ABOUT HOW MANY ORGANIZATIONS WE HAVE, AND IF YOU DO A REALLY GOOD REPORT, ACTUALLY THIS, EVERYONE ON THIS COMMISSION HAVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO READ ALL OF THOSE LIAISON REPORTS ON A MONTHLY BASIS, I DON'T THINK IT'S VERY REALISTIC

[00:55:01]

AND I SUSPECT IT'S NOT HAPPENING EVEN WHEN YOU GET THEM IN.

SO I WOULD LIKE TO JUST BRING UP THE THOUGHT OF PERHAPS SOME SORT OF ROTATING SYSTEM WHERE YOU, WHERE WE DON'T, WE AREN'T GETTING ALL OF THE REPORTS ON ALL ORGANIZATIONS MONTHLY SO THAT EACH COMMISSIONER HAS A BETTER OPPORTUNITY TO DO A GOOD REPORT AND EACH COMMISSIONER ACTUALLY HAS A BETTER OPPORTUNITY TO READ THE REPORTS.

JUST A THOUGHT.

I'M JUST RAISING A THOUGHT.

AND I THINK THAT PROBABLY, IF I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT THINKS THAT, THEN YOU'RE RIGHT.

IF IT'S NOT BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT.

YEAH, I'M GOING, I'M GOING TO RAISE MY HAND AND SAY, I THINK THAT THIS IS A SYSTEM THAT ACTUALLY MIGHT NOT BE WORKING WELL BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO DO REPORTS MONTHLY.

THERE'S SOME OF US, I'M ONE OF THEM WHO, WHO DOESN'T, I DON'T THINK ANYONE DOES ALL THE REPORTS.

AND, AND I ALSO WILL TELL YOU THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DO THEM EVERY MONTH.

LIKE COMMISSIONER OMO DOES GREAT REPORTS EVERY MONTH, AND I FEEL A SENSE OF GUILT EVERY MONTH THAT I DON'T ACTUALLY GET THROUGH ALL OF HIS, MUCH LESS EVERYONE ELSE'S.

SO I WOULD JUST LIKE TO RAISE THE TOPIC OF PERHAPS YOU AND THE OFFICE LOOKING AT IT AND SEEING IF THE REPORT SYSTEM THAT WE HAVE IN PLACE IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO DO IT, OR IF WE COULD MAKE SOME CHANGES WHERE PEOPLE WOULD ACTUALLY DO THEM AND READ THEM.

JUST THE THOUGHT.

WELL, OKAY.

YOUR POINT WILL BE TAKEN UNDER ADVISEMENT.

THAT'S ALL I'M ASKING.

ALRIGHT.

UH, SO NEXT BRIEFING ITEM.

UH, I'M SORRY TO INTERRUPT CHAIR.

ONE MORE.

ONE MORE REQUEST FROM THE CHAT.

UH, COMMISSIONER SPELL WAS REQUESTING A CONFIRMATION OF HIS FOURTH ORGANIZATION SO THAT HE MAY REACH OUT TO THEM.

OKAY.

AND ALSO I HAVE, I HAVE MY HAND UP SO YOU'RE NOT LOOKING AT ME TOO.

I HAD MY HAND UP TOO.

SOMEBODY'S GOTTA KEEP LOOKING AT THE BOARD PLEASE.

WE WERE, YOU WERE ON MUTE AND WE COULDN'T HEAR YOU.

SO I THINK SO, UH, WE CAN HEAR YOU NOW.

WHO, YOU, WHO WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO? MR. RAMEE.

OH, OKAY.

UM, UM, I WANNA, UM, ADD TO WHAT NIKKI SAID.

I I THINK THAT WE NEED TO REALLY LOOK AT THE IDEA OF THE REPORTS BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE THE REPORTS OUGHT TO BE WHEN THERE'S SOMETHING REALLY TO REPORT.

AND SOMETIMES THERE'S REALLY NOT.

I MEAN, YOU KNOW, IF THERE'S A, A REASON TO BRING UP SOME THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON WITH AN ORGANIZATION, I THINK THAT THAT'S, THAT'S A GREAT REPORT.

IF THEY'RE DOING SOME, YOU KNOW, SPECIAL EVENTS OR WHATEVER.

BUT SOMETIMES THERE REALLY ISN'T ANYTHING TO SAY.

AND SO I'M WONDERING IF WE NEED TO ACTUALLY LOOK AT WHAT THE ROLE OF THESE REPORTS ARE FOR OUR AGENCY.

I WOULD AGREE.

I WOULD AGREE.

UH, COMMISSIONER PALOMO.

THANK YOU.

YES, THANK YOU COMMISSIONER MICKEY FOR THINKING THAT I DO THEM ON A MONTHLY BASIS.

I DO NOT, I ONLY DO IT WHEN THERE'S STUFF, UH, WORTH REPORTING.

AND IN THIS SIX YEARS I GUESS I'VE BEEN SERVING, I'VE NEVER HEARD THE MONTHLY COMMITMENT.

SO I'D ASK, UH, THAT WE RETHINK THAT.

THANK YOU.

OKAY.

AND GOODBYE.

SEE Y'ALL NEXT TIME.

HI.

GOODBYE.

ALRIGHT, UM, MOVING THE AGENDA.

UM, SORRY TO INTERRUPT.

UH, COMMISSIONER, UH, UH, WANTS TO KNOW WHAT HIS FOURTH YEAH, WE WILL CONFIRM THAT.

I'LL GET WITH JULIA.

I DON'T REMEMBER.

I KNOW THAT THERE WAS A FOURTH ONE.

I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT THE ORGANIZATION WAS.

I KNOW YOU AND I TALKED ON THE PHONE ABOUT IT.

UM, AND I'LL HAVE TO REVISIT THOSE NOTES.

OKAY.

UM, GOOD, GOOD EVENING.

I'LL BE BRIEFING MY UPDATES.

THANK YOU .

ALRIGHT, WELL THIS IS ACTUALLY MY FIRST TIME JOINING THE COMMISSIONERS VIA WEBEX.

IT'S LONELY OUT HERE, MY GOODNESS.

BUT I HAVE SOME, I'M LEARNING A LOT ABOUT, UH, SOME OF THE TECH COMPONENTS, UM, THAT PROBABLY COULD USE SOME IMPROVEMENT, UH, FROM MY PERSPECTIVE.

SO I'M ACTUALLY GRATEFUL TO HAVE THIS PERSPECTIVE TODAY.

UM, I SHARED A HANDOUT, UM, THAT I'M GOING TO COVER, BUT AHEAD OF STARTING THIS BRIEFING, I WANNA ACKNOWLEDGE THAT LAST MONTH WE DID DISCUSS, UH, AT FISCAL YEAR 24 IN REVIEW.

UM, AND WE WANTED TO BE SURE TO THANK THE CHAIRS OF OUR COMMITTEES, UM, AS THE WORK OF OUR COMMISSION'S COMMITTEES IS REALLY WHERE OUR SUCCESS IS ROOTED.

AND SO WITH THAT, UM, I DON'T KNOW IF THEY'VE BEEN PRESENTED THE GIFTS IN PERSON YET, BUT WE DO HAVE GIFTS FOR CHAIR OF OUR ALLOCATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIR, BRAGGA ALONE, CHAIR OF OUR PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE CHAIR, CRYSTAL WEINSTEIN, CHAIR OF OUR CULTURAL PLANNING EQUITY COMMITTEE CHAIR, WHICH IS COMMISSIONER MEEK AND CHAIR OF OUR ANNUAL REPORT COMMITTEE, UH, CHAIR JIM NUGEN.

WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE, MAN AND YOUR LEADERSHIP OF EACH OF THOSE COMMITTEES.

OF COURSE, TWO OF THOSE ARE STANDING COMMITTEES, ALLOCATIONS AND PUBLIC ART, UH, ROOTED IN, UH, OUR POLICIES AND ORDINANCES,

[01:00:01]

AND THEN OUR NEWEST, UH, COMMITTEES, UH, THAT EFFECTIVELY ACT AS WORKING GROUPS AGAINST THE POLICIES THAT GOVERN THE WORK THAT WE DO.

AND OF COURSE, YOUR COMMISSIONS REQUIRED ANNUAL REPORT.

UM, AGAIN, UH, I HAVE AN IMAGE OF THE AWARD FOR THOSE TWO CHAIRS WHO ARE IN, UH, THE WEBEX WORLD WITH ME.

AND SO I JUST WANTED TO READ, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO AREN'T RECEIVING YOUR AWARD IN PERSON, IT'S OUR GLASS CIRCLE AWARD, UH, WHICH WE'VE BEEN HANDING OUT OVER THE LAST FISCAL YEAR.

UM, WHICH IS LIKE A PHYSICAL REPRESENTATION OF OAC GIVING, A HUGE EMBRACE OF GRATITUDE.

UH, THIS GLASS CIRCLE AWARD NOTES, UM, THAT THE OFFICE OF ARTS AND CULTURE GRATEFULLY RECOGNIZES THE CHAIR OF EACH OF THESE COMMITTEES FOR OUTSTANDING CIVIC LEADERSHIP ON THE ARTS AND CULTURE ADVISORY COMMISSION, UH, CALENDAR YEAR NOTED AS 2024.

SO ON BEHALF OF OUR OFFICE, WE EXTEND OUR GRATITUDE AGAIN FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP OF THESE VARIOUS COMMITTEES.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU.

OKAY.

UH, CHAIR, DID YOU HAVE A COMMENT OR MAY I MOVE FORWARD? PLEASE MOVE FORWARD.

OKAY.

SO THIS IS JUST A SNAPSHOT.

I WANTED TO SHARE, UM, AN OVERVIEW OF MY PARTICULAR PRIORITIES FOR THE DIVISION.

THESE ARE NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE PRIORITIES OF THE LITERAL DIVISIONS AND THEIR MANAGERS, BUT MORE SO WHAT MY FOCUS WILL BE IN MY CAPACITY AS DIRECTOR THIS FISCAL YEAR.

UH, YOU'LL NOTE THIS IMAGE, UH, OF STRINGS AND YOUNG DIVERSE MEMBERS OF THIS PERFORMING GROUP THIS YEAR.

I DO HAVE A FOCUS, I THINK IT WAS A BIT OBVIOUS LAST FISCAL YEAR THAT I HAD A FOCUS ON THE DANCE DISCIPLINE.

NOT FOR ANY PARTICULAR REASON, BUT I DO AS STILL SOMEONE WHO'S NEW TO DALLAS WANNA LEARN A BIT MORE ABOUT, UM, THE PRESENTERS AND CREATORS AND ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE CONTRIBUTING TO THE FABRIC OF OUR COMMUNITY.

WITHIN THIS PARTICULAR VEIN, ALSO, YOUTH PROGRAMMING IS, UH, IS, IS OF INTEREST FOR ME.

THIS PARTICULAR, UH, FISCAL YEAR, WE LAST FISCAL YEAR LAUNCHED THE MONTHLY COUNCIL DISTRICT NEWSLETTERS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND THE ATTENTION OF YOUR RESPECTIVE COUNCIL MEMBERS.

UH, THAT FOR ME WAS A WAY TO BUILD RAPPORT WITH YOU AND YOUR RESPECTIVE COUNCIL MEMBERS.

ALSO TO OPEN AN AVENUE OF COMMUNICATION SO THAT THERE COULD BE SOME DIRECT COMMUNICATION ABOUT, UH, YOUR PRIORITIES, UH, OR, YOU KNOW, ANYTHING, ANY INFORMATION YOU WANTED THE OFFICE TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT'S TAKING PLACE IN YOUR RESPECTIVE COUNCIL DISTRICTS THIS FISCAL YEAR.

UM, FOR MANY REASONS WE'RE GONNA SHIFT TO A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER FORMAT.

THE FIRST, WE, THE FIRST REASON, WHICH IS NOT, I'M, I'M NOT, UM, GOING TO LIST THESE IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER, UM, IN REGARD TO WEIGHT, BUT IT'S JUST IMPORTANT TO ME THAT WE SHIFT AWAY FROM SIMPLY SHARING FORWARD EVENTS, IF YOU WILL, ABOUT WHAT'S TAKING PLACE IN AND AROUND YOUR DISTRICTS, SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE'S A PLACE WHERE ALL THAT INFORMATION ALREADY LIVES.

AND OUR UNDERSTANDING IS THAT MANY COUNCIL MEMBERS HAVE ELECTED TO USE OUR EVENTS CALENDAR WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF THE INFORMATION THEY SHARE FORWARD, UH, TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS AND THE RESIDENTS THERE, WHICH IS GREAT.

UM, SECONDLY, FOR ME AND MY PERSPECTIVE IN MY ROLE, I'M REALLY TASKED WITH COMMUNICATING WITH YOU AND YOUR RESPECTIVE COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM A PLACE OF POLICY, IF YOU WILL.

SO, OF COURSE, YOU KNOW, WE FOLLOW WHAT'S NOTED IN THE CULTURAL PLAN AND SO WE'RE GONNA SHIFT OUR FORMAT TO REPORT WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF THE LANGUAGE NOTED THE PRIORITIES, NOTED THE STRATEGIES AND INITIATIVES NOTED IN THE DALLAS CULTURAL PLAN, AND OF COURSE THE RACIAL EQUITY PLAN AS WELL, SO THAT WE CAN BE SPEAKING TO OUR PROGRESS AS WE DID AT THE STATE OF THE ARTS EVENT, UH, WHICH WAS OUR CULTURAL PROGRESS REPORT, UPDATE TO DATE.

STILL HAVE SOME MORE WORK TO DO.

WE STILL NEED TO BE REPORTING ON THAT.

AND IT'S BEST FOR US TO SHIFT TO A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER FORMAT IN THAT VEIN.

AND THEN SHARE A FEW, YOU KNOW, HIGHLIGHTS OF KEY UPCOMING EVENTS AND KEY PAST EVENTS WHERE, YOU KNOW, WE CAN SHARE PHOTOS OR WHATEVER INFORMATION LINKS TO MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE.

UM, SO THAT SHIFT WILL TAKE PLACE THIS QUARTER.

UM, OUR TEAM, OUR MARKETING DIVISION LED BY ASHLEY GUEVARA WILL BE, UH, RESHAPING THAT FORMAT OF THE NEWSLETTER SO THAT WE CAN, AGAIN, REPORT ON THOSE INITIATIVES NOTED IN THE CULTURAL PLAN, RACIAL EQUITY PLAN, AND COMMUNICATE WITH Y'ALL IN THAT WAY.

I CAN PAUSE THERE FOR QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS, OR I CAN CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD.

UH, PLEASE MOVE FORWARD.

ALL RIGHT.

SO ON THIS RIGHT COLUMN HERE, YOU'LL SEE THREE CIRCLES.

UM, UH, THESE ARE BUCKETS THAT, AGAIN, ARE PRIORITIES

[01:05:01]

AND KEY AREAS OF FOCUS.

UH, FOR ME, I SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN THE LAST FISCAL YEAR, UH, VERY FOCUSED ON THE OAC ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM STAFF, UH, FOR MANY REASONS, AND I AM REALLY PROUD, AND SO IS MILES VERY PROUD OF THE PROGRESS THAT WE'VE MADE IN SHIFTING THAT TEAM, FILLING, UH, THE SEATS THAT NEED TO BE FILLED, UM, AND, AND REALLY PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE CULTURE AND CLIMATE ON THAT LEADERSHIP TEAM.

SO I'M, I'M EXCITED ABOUT WHAT WE'VE GOT IN PLACE, WHO WE'VE GOT IN PLACE.

I AM REALLY PROUD OF THE WAY WE WORK TOGETHER BECAUSE THAT ALLOWS ME TO NOW SHIFT MY FOCUS AND LOOK AT OUR MID-LEVEL MANAGERS WHO ARE RUNNING CULTURAL CENTERS AND OTHER STAFF, UM, AT THAT PEER GROUP LEVEL.

SO, AS IT RELATES TO THE CULTURAL CENTERS, UM, PART OF MY FOCUS HAS TO DO WITH FRIENDS GROUPS, FRIENDS GROUPS DEVELOPMENT, UM, AND BUILDING RAPPORT WITH FRIENDS GROUPS THAT ARE ALREADY ESTABLISHED, SUCH AS THE OAK CLIFF CULTURAL CENTERS FRIENDS GROUP, ATTENDING THOSE MEETINGS AND BEING A BIT MORE, UM, JUST AVAILABLE, UH, TO CONNECT WITH THE RESIDENTS WHO WORK IN SUPPORT OF OUR CULTURAL CENTERS FROM OUTSIDE OF THE STAFF PERSPECTIVE.

AND ALSO ENSURING THAT THE CULTURAL CENTER, NOT ONLY CULTURAL CENTERS, ARE NOT ONLY CONTINUING TO INNOVATE ON THE TYPE OF PROGRAMS OFFERED EXHIBITIONS PLANNED AND ON AND ON, BUT THAT WE MAKE SOME MORE INTENTIONAL STRIDES IN SENIOR PROGRAMMING PROGRAMMING FOR OUR SENIOR CITIZENS ACROSS ALL DISTRICTS.

I JUST THINK THAT'S AN AREA I NOT THINK I'M AWARE THAT THAT'S AN AREA OF GROWTH FOR US, AND IT HAS BEEN A PRIORITY FOR ALL DEPARTMENTS TO REALLY THINK MORE INTENTIONALLY ABOUT WHAT WE'RE DOING TO SUPPORT THAT THO THOSE RESIDENTS AND VISITORS OF THAT PARTICULAR POPULATION.

UH, UH, LASTLY, AND I THINK, UM, I CAN SAY THIS WITH SOME CONFIDENCES, WE INTEND TO FINALIZE AND WRAP UP THE LATINO CULTURAL CENTER RESIDENT THEATER COMPANY'S AGREEMENT THIS FISCAL YEAR.

AND THAT IS, UH, YOU KNOW, THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE'RE GONNA BE VERY HAPPY TO CELEBRATE AND PASS FORWARD THROUGH THIS COMMISSION UP THROUGH, UH, THE QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO COUNCIL BEFORE SEPTEMBER 30TH.

UH, MOVING ON TO MARKETING CON AND COMMUNICATION, UH, FOR US, UM, WITH, UH, THE SHIFT IN LEADERSHIP FOR THE CITY, UH, WITH, UH, FORMER CITY MANAGER, BROADEN ACCESS DEPARTURE, AND OF COURSE THE SOON, WE DON'T KNOW A TIMELINE FOR SURE, BUT OUR INCOMING PERMANENT CITY MANAGERS ONBOARDING, THERE ARE SOME SHIFTS CITYWIDE IN MARKETING AND BRANDING INITIATIVES FOR THE CITY AT LARGE.

AND THEN WHAT WILL BE, UH, IMPOSED, IF YOU WILL, ON DEPARTMENTS.

UH, WE DON'T HAVE A LOT OF CLARITY ON THAT YET, WHETHER THAT'S A SIMPLE LOGO CHANGE OR COLORS CHANGE.

YOU KNOW, WE DON'T HAVE A LOT OF CLARITY ON THAT, BUT IT'S COMING DOWN THE PIPELINE.

FOR ME, WHAT'S BEEN IMPORTANT AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE, UH, THIS FISCAL YEAR IS STREAMLINING OUR PRESENCE, ESPECIALLY ONLINE.

UM, YOU'LL YOU'LL NOTE, UM, BEGINNING THE BEGINNING OF THIS FISCAL YEAR, WE FOLDED, UH, THE COMMUNITY ARTS PROGRAMS, UH, SOCIAL MEDIA.

THEY HAVE THEIR OWN SOCIAL MEDIA, UH, PLATFORM, IF YOU WILL.

AND WE JUST THOUGHT BASED ON, UH, THE, THE NUMBER OF FOLKS ENGAGING WITH THAT PAGE, IT JUST MADE MORE SENSE FOR US TO, TO SHIFT AND COMBINE OUR EFFORTS AND STREAMLINE TO MAINTAIN OUR DALLAS CULTURE PAGE ON INSTAGRAM AS AN EXAMPLE, BECAUSE WE REALLY WANT FOLKS TO, UM, LOOK AT OUR OFFICE AND UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE ONE, UM, FOR THE PA.

IN MY EXPERIENCE, THE PAST ALMOST TWO YEARS, THERE'S BEEN THIS, UH, SEPARATION IN BRANDING FOR THE OFFICE OF ARTS AND CULTURE AND THE COMMUNITY ARTS PROGRAM.

AND WE DON'T WANT THAT DELINEATION.

WE WANT EVERYBODY TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE ONE BIG FAMILY SUPPORTING THIS LARGE ECOSYSTEM OF, OF ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, ESPECIALLY AS WE ARE WORKING TO ADDRESS THE ARTS DESERT AND THE, THE CON THE NOTION OF ARTS DESERTS THAT WHEN FOLKS SEE THAT THE TAGS AND THE TABLECLOTHS AND THE, AND THE, AND THE ARTISTRY THAT THEY UNDERSTAND, THAT'S A FUNCTION OF OUR OFFICE.

AND SO YOU'LL, YOU'LL KNOW THAT TYPE OF A CHANGE HAPPENING.

AND THEN AS IT RELATES TO COMMUNICATION, UM, WE'VE MADE SOME REALLY GREAT IMPROVEMENTS IN LANGUAGE ACCESS AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE, BUT WE UNDERSTAND THAT WE HAVE EVEN MORE WORK TO DO AS IT RELATES TO EVEN REACHING FOLKS WHO ARE HARD OF HEARING, UM, WHO DON'T, UM, HAVE THE ABILITY TO SEE.

AND WE WANNA BE SURE THAT WE'RE ALSO, UM, ABLE TO REACH THEM, THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER AND THAT WE'RE AS INCLUSIVE AS POSSIBLE WHEN WE'RE COMMUNICATING, UH, WITH CONSTITUENTS.

SO YOU'LL SEE SOME OF THOSE, UM, STRIDES IN IMPROVEMENT MADE, UM, WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF OUR MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION DIVISION WITH SUPPORT FROM THE OFFICE OF EQUITY AND IN COLLEGIATE.

UH, THE THIRD CIRCLE THERE IS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

UH, LAST YEAR WE MADE A REALLY SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE BUDGET LINE ITEM RELATED TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

[01:10:01]

FOR STAFF.

WE'RE MAINTAINING ROUGHLY THAT SAME BUDGET LINE ITEM FOR THE SAME, TO MAINTAIN THE SAME PRIORITY.

I SAY THIS MANY TIMES, THE STAFF IS VERY UNIQUE COMPARED TO OTHER, UH, DEPARTMENTS ACROSS THE CITY.

SO I DON'T HAVE THE, I DON'T HAVE THE TYPE OF STAFF WHO CAN LOG INTO THE CITY'S HR PORTFOLIO AND GET THAT VERY SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THAT'S GOING TO ALLOW THEM TO GROW.

AND I CAN USE OUR GENERAL MANAGERS OF OUR VENUES, UH, MIKE AT, UM, THE LOGISTIC THEATER AND STACY AT THE MOODY AS MY BEST EXAMPLES OF WHAT I'M GETTING AFTER.

AND EVEN, UH, GLEN ASSISTANT DIRECTOR GLEN AND THE FUNDING PROGRAMS TEAM AS WELL, THE FUNDING PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY ARTS TEAM MEMBERS OF JUST RETURNED FROM THE GRANT MAKERS IN THE ARTS CONFERENCE THAT WAS HELD IN CHICAGO.

I TELL THEM EVERY YEAR, IT'S IMPORTANT TO ME FOR WE, FOR STAFF OF THE OAC TO ATTEND THIS CONFERENCE, TO CONTINUE TO GLEAN BEST PRACTICES, NOT ONLY BECAUSE WE'RE TWEAKING GUIDELINES EVERY YEAR THAT ARE GOING BEFORE COUNCIL FORM FOR APPROVAL, BUT THAT WE'RE MAKING, WE'RE MAKING NOTABLE CHANGES THAT, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE GLEANING AT THESE TYPES OF EVENTS AND CONFERENCES AND SYMPOSIUMS WHERE WE CAN REMAIN ABREAST OF THE, THE WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN CONTINUE TO EXPAND OUR SUPPORT, UH, FOR THE FOLKS IN OUR ECOSYSTEM WHO NEED US.

SO THERE'S THAT.

AND THEN AGAIN, LIKE I MENTIONED, THE VENUE SPECIFIC STAFF.

YOU KNOW, THE CITY'S JUST, YOU KNOW, THE CITY'S IN SHOW BUSINESS IN A WAY, , HOWEVER, WE'RE JUST NOT BEST SUITED TO TRAIN UP THE STAFF WHO ARE WORKING IN THOSE TYPES OF VENUES.

SO I WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO TRAVEL AND GLEAN AND GET THE INFORMATION THEY NEED TO BETTER SERVE, UH, IN THEIR ROLES.

UM, AND AGAIN, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN IS OUR STAFF IS LIMITED IN NUMBER, BUT WE'RE GROWING.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE BLACK AND THE WHITE, IT'S JUST, MOST OF US DON'T REALLY HAVE ANYWHERE WE CAN BE PROMOTED TO.

AND SO WHILE THAT, UM, THE FEELING OF BEING PROMOTED TO A PARTICULAR ROLE MIGHT NOT EXIST, I STILL WANT FOLKS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY CAN EXPAND AND CAPACITY AND, AND TO CONTINUE TO GROW THEIR KNOWLEDGE BASE IN THEIR FIELD.

UM, AND THAT SEEMS TO HELP WITH US IN, UM, ESTABLISHING SOME GREAT, UM, MORALE, STAFF MORALE ACROSS THE TEAM, IF YOU WILL.

SO IT'S JUST IMPORTANT TO ME.

WE SPEND THE FIRST QUARTER OF EACH FISCAL YEAR PLANNING OUT PROFESSIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLANS.

UM, THEY ARE SUBMITTED TO ME FOR APPROVAL, AND WE JUST CALENDAR OUT, MAKE SURE FOLKS ARE REGISTERED, AND SPEND THAT BUDGET LINE ITEM DOWN TO ENSURE CROSS DIVISION STAFF ARE GETTING THOSE OPPORTUNITIES.

DOWN AT THE BOTTOM, YOU'LL SEE TWO, UM, ARTS ACTIVATE AND CAP ARTISTS.

UM, AS PROGRAMS OF INTEREST FOR ME, ONE ARTS ACTIVATE, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE SOME OF OUR FUNDING PROGRAMS THAT HAVE, UH, UH, UH, GENERAL FUNDS AS A SOURCE OF, YOU KNOW, THAT THAT'S THE SOURCE OF FUNDS FOR THOSE, UH, SERVICES, ARTS CONTRACTS FOR ART SERVICES.

AND WE ALSO HAVE SOME FUNDING PROGRAMS THAT USE HOT, THE HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX AS A SOURCE OF FUNDS, UH, FOR THAT PURPOSE.

AND WE'RE GONNA BE LEANING INTO HOW TO BE IN A BIT MORE INNOVATIVE, UH, AND A LESS, AND A MAYBE A LITTLE LESS CONSERVATIVE WITH REGARD TO HOW WE'RE USING, UM, HOT AS A SOURCE OF FUNDS TO SUPPORT OUR INITIATIVES.

OF COURSE, FOCUSING ON WHAT'S ALLOWED, UM, BUT TRYING SOME THINGS IN NEW WAYS, UH, SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO GROW THE WAYS WE SUPPORT THE ECOSYSTEM.

AGAIN, UH, AS IT RELATES TO CAP ARTISTS, UM, WE HAD SOME EXPERIENCES OVER THE LAST FISCAL YEAR THAT GAVE ME THE THOUGHT THAT PERHAPS, UH, TWO, TWO THINGS.

ONE, THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME QUALITY ASSURANCE, NOT SO MUCH FOR THE CAP ARTISTS, BUT FOR THE CAP ARTISTS EXPERIENCE SERVING IN, IN THEIR, IN THEIR FUNCTION AS ENTERTAINERS OR, YOU KNOW, BOOK TALENT OR WHATEVER.

WE NEED TO, THE OFFICE NEEDS TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE HAVING AN EXPERIENCE WHERE THEY'RE RESPECTED AS PROFESSIONALS, UM, WHERE THEIR NEEDS ARE MET SO THAT THEY CAN SUCCEED IN THE, IN THE BOOKING OPPORTUNITY THAT, YOU KNOW, THEY'VE BEEN SELECTED FOR, AND THAT WE CAN ADVOCATE FOR THEM WHERE NEED BE.

SO I'M WRAPPING MY HEAD AROUND AROUND HOW WE CAN BETTER SERVE IN THAT WAY.

AND THEN WITH REGARD TO THE EVENTS CALENDAR, UH, ONE PRIORITY FOR ME IS THAT WE FIND A WAY TO PARTNER WITH OUR NEIGHBORING HOTELS, UH, IN THE CITY OF DALLAS TO ENSURE THAT OUR EVENTS CALENDAR IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE FOR VISITORS WHO ARE COMING TO THE CITY OF DALLAS FOR ANY REASON.

SO THAT IF THEY ARE SIMPLY COMING IN FOR A MEETING, MAYBE THEY CAN GET OUT TO THE LAKE AND VISIT THE BATHHOUSE, OR IF THEY'RE HERE ON A CONFERENCE, THEY LEARN THAT THEY CAN DO A TEAM OUTING AND GO SEE A SHOW AT SOUTH OF DALLAS OR ANY OTHER OF OUR FACILITIES AND ON AND ON.

SO WE JUST WANNA HAVE AN EASIER RELATIONSHIP, YOU KNOW, A MORE A FORMAL RELATIONSHIP WHERE WE CAN MAKE IT EASY, WHETHER THAT'S A QR CODE

[01:15:01]

OR A POSTCARD OR WHATEVER.

WE'RE GONNA, ASHLEY AND I ARE WORKING ON MEETING WITH, UM, UM, UM, REPRESENTATIVES OF THOSE, UH, NEIGHBORING HOTELS ACROSS THE CITY.

UM, TO THAT END, UH, BECAUSE I THINK WE'VE WORKED, WE'VE DONE OUR PART IN MAKING SURE THAT THE INFORMATION IS THERE, THE NEXT STEP IS MAKING SURE THE INFORMATION IS GOING WHERE IT NEEDS TO GO, SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO JUSTIFY THAT PARTICULAR SOURCE OF FUNDS AND AN INCREASE TO THAT PARTICULAR SOURCE OF FUNDS.

UH, SEPARATELY FROM, UH, WHAT'S NOT EXPRESSLY NOTED ON THE HANDOUT, YOU ALL KNOW THAT I STILL, UM, HOLD DEAR TO THE IDEA NOTION THAT WE'RE NOT SIMPLY CHARGED, UH, WITH, WITH ART FOR ART'S SAKE, UH, THAT WE TOO CAN CONTRIBUTE DIRECTLY TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS HERE TO THE TUNE OF ADDRESSING WHAT I CALL A COST OF LIVING ISSUE THAT IMPACTS ARTISTS WHO MAY BE USED TO, UM, LEAN ON THE OFFICE FOR SUPPORT BUT NO LONGER CAN AFFORD TO LIVE IN DALLAS, OR THEY'RE NO LONGER DALLAS ARTISTS, IF YOU WILL.

UM, AND, UH, MOVING THE NEEDLE ON, UM, PARTNERING WITH A PROPERTY MANAGER WHO IS VERY INTERESTED IN SUBSIDIZING AND LO LOWERING THE COST OF RENT TO LEASE TO DALLAS ARTISTS.

AS SO LONG AS WE CAN BUILD OUT A COMPONENT OF THE PROGRAM, IF YOU WILL, THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO HAVE ACCESS TO OUR SPACES TO WORK AND EXHIBIT THEIR ARTWORK.

SO WE'RE BUILDING THAT OUT AND, UH, WITH, UH, THE ADVISEMENT AND GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT OF OUR ARTS AND HEALTH LEADER, COMMISSIONER VALENTINE, UH, STILL WORKING AND TWEAKING WITH OUR PARTNERS AT BAYLOR, UH, THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, AND BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD, TEXAS, TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCH A SOCIAL PRESCRIBING ARTS AND HEALTH ARTS ON PRESCRIPTION PILOT PROGRAM THIS FISCAL YEAR.

SO THAT'S MY MOUTHFUL IN CASE Y'ALL DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M UP TO, BUT THAT'S WHAT I'M UP TO.

.

SO I WANTED TO SHARE THAT WITH YOU AS WE'LL BE LEANING ON YOU FOR ADVICE TO, I'LL BE LEANING ON YOU FOR ADVICE TO THOSE ENDS.

THAT WAS A GREAT BRIEFING.

MARTINE, UH, ANYTHING FURTHER? YES, I HAVE A, A QUESTION AND A COMMENT.

OKAY.

UH, MY COMMENT IS, FIRST I WANNA SAY THANK YOU, MARTINE, FOR YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS AS IT PERTAINS TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUR TEAM.

I KNOW YOU DO A GREAT JOB AS THEIR LEADER, UM, BUT I ALSO KNOW THAT YOU WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO WHAT YOU DO WITHOUT THEM.

SO I APPRECIATE YOU BEING CONTENT TO THEIR NEEDS AND THEIR GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES.

UM, MY QUESTION IS, AS IT PERTAINS TO OUR ART ACTIVATE ARTISTS HAVING A GREAT EXPERIENCE, CAN YOU SHARE IF, IF YOU'RE ABLE TO, WHAT THAT, UM, COMMISSIONER, COMMISSIONER PES IS YOUR CAMERA ON? NO.

COULD YOU PLEASE TURN YOUR CAMERA ON? I CAN GIMME TWO SHAKES.

I'M GETTING READY TO GO TO THE AIRPORT, WHICH IS WHY IT IS OFF , SO I CAN COME BACK IN A SECOND WITH MY QUESTION IF IT NEEDS TO BE ON.

GIMME ONE SECOND.

WHILE SHE'S SEARCHING, I JUST WANNA COMMEND, UM, UH, DIRECTOR, UM, PHILIPPE FOR THAT REPORT.

IT'S, IT'S, WE ARE DOING GREAT THINGS AND, AND, UH, I'M, I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR AND ALL THE THINGS THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO DO TO, UH, ADVANCE THOSE THINGS THAT ARE SUPPORTING BOTH THE ARTISTS AND THE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS IN DALLAS.

HI, I WANT TO APPLAUD, UH, COMM OR MARTINE FOR GOING UP AT MANY ARTS EVENT.

NOW WE'VE GOT COMMISSIONER BEST, HERE WE GO.

UM, AS IT PERTAINS TO THE, UH, ARTS ACTIVATE EXPERIENCE, CAN YOU TELL US WHAT INSTANCE LED LED TO YOU TODAY? SURE.

UH, SURE.

AND I THINK WE ADDRESSED IT IN A FORMER, UH, ONE OF THE INSTANCES, EXCUSE ME, WE'VE ADDRESSED ON THE RECORD IN THE RECENT PAST.

UM, AND I BELIEVE THAT WAS MORE OF A CAP, UH, O ISSUE, NOT AN ARTS ACTIVATE ISSUE, JUST TWO SEPARATE.

AND IT HAS TO DO WITH, AGAIN, UM, ARTISTS, UM, BEING ABLE TO DO WHAT THEY DO WITHOUT ANYONE IMPOSING ON THAT, RIGHT? IT'S, IT COULD BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS YOU ASK FOR A BAND, YOU BOOK A BAND, AND THE BAND ARRIVES AND THEY DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO WHATEVER ELECTRICAL HOOKUPS THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO PERFORM AND PERFORM WELL, OR QUALITY AV EQUIPMENT BEING PRESENT TO SUPPORT A, A A A, A HIGH QUALITY ARTS ENGAGEMENT OR, UH, UM, ASKING A PERFORMER TO PERFORM FOR 10 MINUTES AND CUTTING THEIR SOUND AT FI AT THE FIVE MINUTE MARK.

WHILE SOME OF THESE ARE, UM, ACTIVITIES THAT HAPPEN IN THE MOMENT, AND MAYBE WE CAN'T SAVE THE DAY, I JUST WANT TO GET AFTER, AGAIN, SOME OF THOSE QUALITY, QUALITY ASSURANCE MEASURES, UH, THAT RHONDA'S TEAM, WANDA'S WANDA'S WONDERFUL TEAM, UM, CAN MAYBE ADDRESS A BIT MORE, UH, EXPRESSLY IN

[01:20:01]

CONTRACT AND THE VERBIAGE AND THE WHEREVER IT IS, UM, SO THAT FOLKS UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE ADVOCATES, UH, ON BEHALF OF THE ARTISTS.

BECAUSE OUR UNDERSTANDING IS THEY'RE ALREADY VETTED, THEY'RE READY TO ROCK AND ROLL, THEY'RE GONNA DO A GREAT JOB.

THE ENVIRONMENT, HOWEVER, NEEDS TO BE READY TO RECEIVE THEM IN A RESPECTFUL WAY.

AND I, I, UM, SO I'LL STOP THERE, .

OKAY.

UH, ANYTHING FURTHER FOR MARTINE? I JUST WANNA ADD TO THAT, UM, MAJI THAT WHAT WE REALLY NEED TO BE LOOKING AT IS THE PRESENTER AND THE IDEA THAT THE PRESENTER HAS CERTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WHEN CONTRACTING AND THAT WE NEED TO BE VIGILANT ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT THOSE PARAMETERS ARE ALWAYS MET.

IT'S, IT'S LIKE THE PRESENTER EXPERIENCE IS A PART OF THE SUCCESS OF ANY ARTS ACTIVATE AND OR CAP ARTIST PRESENTATION.

THAT MAKES SENSE.

OKAY.

THANK Y'ALL FOR THAT.

UH, IF THERE'S NOTHING FURTHER, UH, FOR MARTINE BEFORE WE, UH, ADJOURN, UH, JIM NUGENT HAS SOME DATES, UH, FROM THE ANNUAL REPORTING COMMITTEE, UH, THAT ARE VERY, UH, IMPORTANT.

JIM, IF YOU WOULD SHARE THOSE WITH US.

SO WE'RE NEXT MEETING IN NOVEMBER 13TH, AND I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT THAT I'VE GOTTEN THE GOALS FOR FISCAL YEAR 25 FROM PUBLIC ART, UH, CULTURAL PLAN AND EQUITY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ALLOCATION COMMITTEE.

BUT, UH, I'LL SEND OUT THE GOALS FOR FISCAL YEAR 24 TO EMANUEL.

UH, AND I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE THINK CREATIVELY ABOUT THE GOAL FOR FISCAL YEAR 25 BECAUSE AS IT GOES IN THE ANNUAL REPORT YEAH.

WE ALL HAVE TO SIGN OFF ON IT.

YEAH.

OKAY.

UM, AND I BELIEVE THERE WERE SOME OTHER DEADLINES AND OR SOME CALENDAR DATES AS TO WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AT WHAT MEETING YOU WERE GONNA SHARE.

UH, I, I CAN'T REMEMBER THE, UH, DEADLINES, BUT, UH, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT THE COMMITTEE COMMISSIONERS HAVE THE GOALS FOR FISCAL YEAR 25 TO US IN ADVANCE OF THE NOVEMBER 13TH MEETING.

OKAY.

ALRIGHT.

SO COMMISSIONERS, IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE INCLUDED, UH, TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ANNUAL REPORT STATEMENT OF GOALS, UH, PLEASE LET'S GET THOSE IN BY THEN.

SO THEY COULD BE, UH, COMPRISED AND, UH, AND INCLUDED, UH, IN THE COMMITTEE'S, UH, ANNUAL REPORT GOALS THAT WILL BE STATED.

YEAH.

ALRIGHT.

UH, ANYTHING FURTHER, JIM? NO.

OKAY.

QUESTION.

YES.

DON'T WE WANT THOSE TO BE IN BEFORE THE COMMITTEE MEETING, WHICH IS YES.

YES.

AND NOVEMBER COMMITTEE MEETING IS THE COMMITTEE MEETING IS, SO MAYBE NOVEMBER 6TH.

THAT MAY BE.

WE SHOULD, WHY DON'T WE FOLLOW UP WITH STAFF WILL FOLLOW UP WITH AN EMAIL TO EVERYONE AS A REMINDER, UM, WITH THE TIMELINE THAT Y'ALL PRESCRIBED IN THE LAST ANNUAL REPORT MEETING.

OKAY.

THERE WE GO.

UH, DOES, UH, COMMISSIONERS, DO YOU HAVE ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS THAT YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE BEFORE WE ADJOURN? UH, UPCOMING, UH, ACTIVITIES THAT YOU'RE PERSONALLY INVOLVED IN THAT YOU'D LIKE TO GET SUPPORT OF? OF COURSE, I'M ALWAYS PROMOTING MYSELF .

OH, YOU, YOU DO GREAT THINGS ALL THE TIME.

.

SO I HAVE A, I HAVE AN EXHIBITION OPENING AT TALLY DUNN GALLERY, NOVEMBER 16TH, WHICH ALL OF YOU ARE INVITED TO.

IT'S FROM FIVE TO SEVEN AND THEN YOU CAN IMMEDIATELY LEAVE THAT AND GO TO AURORA.

ALRIGHT.

NOVEMBER 16TH.

NOVEMBER 16TH.

ALRIGHT.

TALLY GALLERY, I'LL SEND, I'LL SEND THE ANNOUNCEMENT TO UM, EMMANUEL THAT YOU CAN SEND OUT TO EVERYBODY BY EMAIL SO YOU'LL HAVE SOMETHING IN WRITING.

ALRIGHT.

UH, ANYONE ELSE? THERE'S NOTHING FURTHER, ALL BUSINESS BEING CONDUCTED.

UH, WE WILL ADJOURN AT 5 58 TODAY, EVERYONE, GREAT WORK AND UH, WE WILL SEE YOU NEXT TIME AND HAVE A GREAT EVENING.

BYE.

THANK YOU.
