UM, THAT WAS A PHENOMENAL PROJECT THAT WAS DONE AND HAS REALLY REVITALIZED THAT AREA.
BUT AS THE STAFF KNOWS, FOR A LARGE PORTION OF THE YEAR, YOU CAN'T PLAY ON THE, UH, LARGE PLAY SURFACE BECAUSE OF THE MUD.

UH, AND, AND SO, SO THE TAXPAYERS DOLLARS ARE BEING UTILIZED THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY BY ALL OF US WORKING TOGETHER.

SO WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT THOSE PARTNERS IN THOSE FUNDING PROGRAMS, TALK ABOUT OUR LEVERAGE FUNDING, AND WE'LL GET INTO, UH, THOSE NUMBERS.
AND WE'RE GONNA GO THROUGH SOME HIGHLIGHTED PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS, SOME THAT ARE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY, UH, AND SOME THAT ARE, ARE COMING IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

SO WE HAVE DALLAS COUNTY, AND WHEN WE SAY WE'RE, WE'RE WORKING WITH THE COUNTY ON SOMETHING, WE'RE WORKING WITH THEM.
IT'S USUALLY THROUGH THEIR MAJOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM.
THEY HAVE REGULAR CALLS FOR PROJECTS.
UM, IT'S A LOT OF TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS.
THEY DO A LOT OF WORK AROUND THE COUNTY, OF COURSE, A LOT OF ROADWAY ORIENTED PROJECTS, BUT THEY DO A LOT OF TRAIL WORK AS WELL.
SO THEY FREQUENTLY HAVE CALLS FOR PROJECTS WITH THEM, AND WE USUALLY, WE TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THOSE WHENEVER WE CAN.
AND SIMILAR FOR THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE MULTIPLE WAYS WE WORK WITH THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, SO THEY HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT FUNDING PROGRAMS THAT ALLOW US TO WORK WITH THEM.
UH, IF, IF YOU'RE READING THROUGH THE BIG ISS FOR SOME OF THOSE TRAILS, UH, THAT CAME THROUGH EARLIER, YOU MAY HAVE SEEN CMAC CONGESTION MITIGATION, AIR QUALITY PROGRAM FUNDS.
UH, THIS IS FUNDING THAT GOES TOWARD INITIATIVES TO REDUCE, UH, CONGESTION ISSUES OR AIR, IMPROVE AIR QUALITY.
AND SO, AGAIN, IT'S HEAVILY ROADWAY BASED, BUT THEY DO PROVIDE A LOT OF FUNDING FOR BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN PROJECTS, COMPLETE STREETS AND WALKABLE COMMUNITIES.
SO WE TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THOSE.
UH, A BIG ONE YOU MAY HEAR ABOUT A LOT IS OUR TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM THAT USED TO BE CALLED TAP IT'S TASA, NOW THINK IT CHANGES NAMES EVERY TIME THEY, THEY SUBMIT IT.
UM, BUT THIS IS ORIENTED TOWARD ALTERNATIVE MOBILITY.
SO A LOT OF BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN PROJECTS.
WE'RE WORKING ON TWO OF THOSE GRANTS NOW TO SUBMIT IN THIS OPEN CALL, UH, TO COMPLETE THE COTTON BELT TRAIL.
AND PART OF THE MARNEY CANER TRAIL IN DISTRICT 12.
UH, THIS PROGRAM, IT'S, UM, THERE'S A VERY TIGHT TIMELINE.
THEY BASICALLY WANT JUST SHOVEL READY, SO YOU GOTTA BE READY TO GO ON THIS ONE.
BUT, UH, SO WE TRY TO KEY UP PROJECTS WHEN WE KNOW THESE CALLS ARE COMING SO THAT WE HAVE DESIGN COMPLETE OR SIGNIFICANTLY UNDERWAY.
UH, ANOTHER INNOVATIVE PROGRAM COG HAS IS THEIR REGIONAL TOLL REVENUE PROGRAM.
UH, THIS IS BASICALLY THEIR SWAPPING OUT LOCAL FUNDING FOR FEDERAL FUNDING.
SO THEY'RE TAKING OUR, OUR TOLL FUNDING THAT WE HAVE AND SWAPPING IT FOR FEDERAL.
SO USING, UM, INSTEAD OF HAVING MAYBE A $2 MILLION TRAIL PROJECT WITH FEDERAL FUNDING, WHICH ADDS A LOT OF TIME AND A LOT OF RED TAPE AND A LOT OF EXTRA REVIEW TIMES, WE CAN SWAP IT OUT FOR OUR LOCAL FUNDS.
AND IT HELPS US EXP EXPEDITE THOSE STILL LARGE, BUT SMALLER SCALE PROJECTS AS OPPOSED TO LIKE A MAJOR FREEWAY RECONSTRUCTION THAT WE'D WANNA USE OUR FEDERAL FUNDING FOR.
AND THEN TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT CREDITS.
THIS IS, IT'S THROUGH THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION.
IT'S BASICALLY A CREDIT THAT, UH, CAN, THAT GETS, UH, ASSIGNED TO VARIOUS REGIONS AND CITIES.
UH, THE DFW AREA HAS ASSIGNED TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT CREDITS.
AND THE CITY OF DALLAS HAS THESE TYPE OF CREDITS, AND IT BASICALLY LETS US OFFSET OUR LOCAL MATCH.
SO WHENEVER, ANY OF THESE PROGRAMS, YOU GOTTA HAVE A LOCAL MATCH.
UH, WITH THE COUNTY, IT'S 50 50.
WITH FEDERAL, IT'S 80 20, SO 80% FEDERAL, 20% LOCAL.
BUT IF WE CAN USE OUR TDCS, IT'S A HUNDRED PERCENT FEDERAL.
UM, IT WILL SHOW AN EXAMPLE OF A COUPLE OF THOSE EXAMPLES COMING UP, BUT IT BASICALLY GETS US NOT A FREE PROJECT, UH, BUT IT'S, INSTEAD OF HAVING OUR LOCAL MATCH, WE CAN DO, UH, TDCS.
AND THEN ONE THAT WE'RE JUST GETTING INTO.
NOW, OUR, UH, FEDERAL SPENDING BILL IS RAISED, AGAIN, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
WE ALL HAVE OUR ACRONYMS. IT'S A VERY LONG ACRONYM THERE, BUT THIS IS FUNDING TOWARD, UH, REINVESTMENT IN, UH, INFRASTRUCTURE ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
AND THEY ALSO DO, UH, BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN PROJECTS.
AND SO WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET SOME OF THOSE.
AND THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS IS WORKING WITH THOSE THAT ARE IMPACTING OUR TRAIL SYSTEM.
SO I GOT WITH, WE WANTED TO LOOK AT IT, WELL, HOW MUCH MONEY ARE WE LEVERAGING? AND SO I CONTACTED DALLAS COUNTY AND HAD THEM LOOK AT THE LAST, YOU KNOW, 10 TO 12 YEARS.
SO I LOOKED BACK ON OUR LAST TWO BOND PROGRAMS, SO 2017 AND 2012.
AND SO I SAID, OKAY, DALLAS COUNTY, IF YOU COULD PROVIDE YOUR PROJECT LIST FOR ABOUT THAT TIME PERIOD.
I ASKED THE SAME THING OF THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS.
SOMETHING TO NOTE, AND I'LL JUST KIND OF PAUSE HERE FOR A MINUTE, IS THIS ISN'T EVERY PROJECT IN THE BOND PROGRAM THAT THAT'S WHAT THESE NUMBERS ARE.
IT'S NOT EVERY PROJECT IN THESE BONDS.
IT'S NOT EVERY PROJECT THE COUNTY DOES.
NOT EVERY PROJECT THAT THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS IS PARTNERED WITH US, I'M TRYING TO FOCUS ON, YOU KNOW, PARK AND TRAIL ORIENTED PROJECTS.
SO THINGS THAT ARE BENEFITING OUR TRAIL SYSTEM.
AND WHEN YOU THINK OF THE PARKS, WE'RE TALKING THE BIG ONES LIKE THE CLYDE WARM PARKS AND THE SOUTHERN GATEWAYS.
THEY HAVE HEAVY TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE IN THEM.
SO, UH, SO IF YOU LOOK BACK ABOUT THAT TIME PERIOD, WE'VE HAD ABOUT 90 MILLION FROM THOSE TWO BOND PROGRAMS. REMEMBER IN 2012, PARKS WAS NOT A RECIPIENT OF ANY BOND FUNDS, BUT OUR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT GOT A LOT OF TRAIL PROJECTS.
SO WE WORKED WITH THEM AT THE TIME.
THEY DID SOME OF THEM, AND PARKS DID SOME OF THEM.
UM, SO WE HAD ABOUT 90 MILLION OR SO, GIVE OR TAKE.
UH, DALLAS COUNTY, WHEN YOU LOOK THROUGH THEIR PROJECTS DURING THIS SIMILAR TIME PERIOD AT ABOUT $80 MILLION.
AND THEN IF YOU LOOK AT OUR FEDERAL GRANTS AND THROUGH COUNCIL GOVERNMENTS AND T STOCK, THERE ARE OVER 160 MILLION AND UP.
AND NOW YOU CAN SEE THE LITTLE PIE CHART BELOW ON HOW THAT GETS DISTRIBUTED.
SO IN THE WAY THIS WORKS, IT'S NOT NECESSARILY, YOU KNOW, A ONE-SIDED THING WHERE IT'S THE CITY OF DALLAS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

SO YOU CAN SEE THE HEAVY CONTRIBUTION THAT THE COUNTY HAS MADE OVER THE YEARS.
AGAIN, THEIR DOLLAR AMOUNTS ABOUT OVER 80 MILLION.
AND IF YOU ADD UP ALL THE TRAILS THAT THEY'VE BEEN PARTICIPATORY IN, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT OVER 40 MILES OF OUR TRAIL NETWORK THAT THEY HAVE EITHER BUILT ON THEIR OWN WITH THEIR OWN FUNDING INDEPENDENT OF THE CITY, OR THEY HAVE DONE IT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH US AND OR THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS.
AND YOU CAN SEE THE VARIOUS PROJECTS ARE ALL HIGHLIGHTED THERE IN YELLOW ACROSS THE CITY.
AND YOU CAN SEE WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN ACTIVE IN BUILDING OUT, IN WORKING ON THE TRAIL SYSTEM.
UH, THE FOLLOWING SLIDE DOES THE SAME THING FOR THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS AND OUR FEDERAL SOURCES.
AND THEY'VE HAD ABOUT 160 MILLION WORTH OF INVESTMENT.

THEY HELPED BUILD PART OF THE SKYLINE TRAIL.
UH, SO YOU CAN SEE THE BIG CONTRIBUTION THAT THEY HAVE PLAYED, UH, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH US AND THE COUNTY.
SO NOW WE'RE GONNA GO THROUGH JUST SOME OF THESE HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS.

UH, THE FIRST ONE UP IS THE CEDAR CREST HONEY SPRINGS TRAIL.
UH, THIS IS A PROJECT THAT WAS COMPLETED I THINK ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO NOW.
UH, THIS FOLLOWS, UH, TWO ENCORE TRANSMISSION CORRIDORS.
THIS WAS COMPLETELY, UH, DALLAS COUNTY.
THEY DID THIS ONE ON THEIR OWN, UH, THROUGH THEIR PROGRAMS. AND SO THIS HAS HELPED BUILDING OUT THE TRAIL SYSTEM WITHIN SOUTHERN DALLAS.
UH, THE NEXT STEP IS THE LAKE HIGHLANDS TRAIL.
THIS IS CREATING BASICALLY A TWO AND A HALF OR SO MILE LOOP, A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN THAT ACTUALLY THROUGH LAKE HIGHLANDS BY BUILDING OUT THESE VARIOUS TRAIL SYSTEMS. AND SO THIS USED A COMBINATION OF CITY BOND FUNDS AND THAT WE'RE ABLE TO LEVERAGE THAT THROUGH THEIR TAP PROGRAM.
SO THE, TO GET A TOTAL PROJECT OF AROUND 8 MILLION OR SO.
FOR THAT, GO TO THE FOLLOWING SLIDE.
UH, I PULLED OUT ONE SECTION OF SOPAC.
UH, THIS TRAIL USED TO BE CALLED THE EAST DALLAS LL WAY.
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME LIKE ME, IT'S SO PART OF SANTA FE AND SOPAC WERE ALL CALLED THE SAME THING.
AND IT WAS BUILT IN MULTIPLE PHASES OVER TIME.
SO I JUST KIND OF PULLED OUT THIS ONE.
THIS IS ONE THAT THE COUNTY WORKED ON, ALMOST INDEPENDENT.
I THINK THE CITY HAD A A FEW HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IN IT FOR SOME WORK, BUT THIS IS A SECTION THAT THE COUNTY DID IN PARTNERSHIPS SINCE WE WERE BUILDING OTHER SECTIONS.
THEY'RE LIKE, OKAY, WELL IF YOU DO THIS ONE, WE'RE GONNA DO THE NEXT PIECE FOR YOU.
AND THEN THEY KIND OF WORKED OUR WAY UP THE LINE.

UH, THAT IS TO ACCOMMODATE A WIDE SIDEWALK PLUS A TWO-WAY CYCLE TRACK THAT WILL EXTEND FROM THE MORGAN MCDERMOTT BRIDGE TIE INTO C***S CREEK, AND THEN CONTINUE SOUTH DOWN TO ABOUT ZANG.
SO AS THAT AREA REDEVELOPS, WE'LL BE BUILDING IN BIKE INFRASTRUCTURE AND WE'LL BE TYING INTO THAT WHERE WE CAN WITH OUR TRAIL SYSTEM.
UH, IF WE GO THE FOLLOWING SLIDE, THIS IS, UH, TRAINEE STRAND PHASE TWO.
UH, YOU KNOW, PHASE ONE FOLLOWS THE OLD TRENDY MEANDERS THROUGH THE DESIGN DISTRICT.
THIS GOES IN A KIND OF HEADS OFF TO THE NORTHWEST, UH, OVER TO THE MEDICAL DISTRICT ENDING AT INWOOD AND DENTON DRIVE.
THIS IS A BIG COMBINATION PROJECT WHERE WE'RE, WE REDID ROADWAYS, WE TOOK LANES OFF THE STREET, WE NARROWED THE ROADWAY DOWN.
WE HAVE IT TRANSITIONS FROM KIND OF A VERY URBAN ENVIRONMENT TO A TRAIL SYSTEM AS IT GOES UNDERNEATH THE DARK GUIDEWAY.
SO THIS AGAIN, EXTENDS FROM ROUGHLY TURTLE CREEK AND MARKET CENTER UP TO, UH, DENTON DRIVE AND EDWOOD PASSING RIGHT BY PARKLAND.
AND THIS WAS A PARTNERSHIP WITH COG AND THE CITY.
WE USED OUR BOND FUNDING AND LEVERAGED IT AGAINST, UH, SOME TAP FUNDING THAT WE'RE ABLE TO ACQUIRE.
UH, NEXT ONE UP IS COTTON BELT.
SO THIS IS A MAJOR PROJECT, UH, 26 MILES LONG.
IT'S ASSOCIATED WITH DART SILVER LINE PROJECT FROM DFW AIRPORT TO, UH, CITY OF PLANO.
UH, AS PART OF THAT COG HAS BEEN ADVOCATING AND WORKING WITH ALL THE CITIES ALONG THE LINE, THE SILVER LINE, UH, TO BUILD A TRAIL FROM DFW AIRPORT ALL THE WAY OUT TO PLANO.
AND WHAT YOU'RE SEEING HERE IS A AERIAL OBLIQUE LOOKING AT PRESTON GREEN PARK.
YOU'VE GOT THE TRACK UNDER CONSTRUCTION KIND OF CENTER RIGHT, AND YOU SEE A BRIDGE KIND OF DIAGONALLY.
THAT'S ONE OF THE FIRST BRIDGES THAT WAS BUILT.
AND A LITTLE PIECE OF THE TRAIL HAS BEEN BUILT HEADING BACK TOWARD HILLCREST.
UH, SO THANKS TO A LOT OF GREAT WORK AND ADVOCACY FROM COUNCIL MEMBER MENDELSON AND PARK BOARD MEMBER CONNOR.
WE'RE BASICALLY GETTING A FREE TRAIL FOR THE PRICE OF OVER $20 MILLION, UH, WITHIN THE CITY OF DALLAS, WITHIN NORTH DALLAS.
IT'S ALL BEEN FEDERALLY FUNDED AND PAID FOR, UH, ONE LITTLE GAP OVER BY PRESTON GREEN PARK, UH, THAT WE ARE APPLYING FOR, UH, TASK TAP FUNDING WITH THIS OPEN CALL FOR PROJECTS.
AND WE'RE GONNA TRY TO USE OUR REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT CREDITS.
SO AGAIN, WE MIGHT GET, BE ABLE TO GET THAT PIECE.
AND THEN THIS 4.5 MILES DONE FOR VERY LITTLE COST TO THE CITY AND CERTAINLY NOT PAYING 20 TO $25 MILLION FOR IT.
SO THIS IS GONNA BE A REALLY GREAT PROJECT IN FAR NORTH DALLAS ONCE THIS GETS COMPLETE AND LOOKING AT WHAT'S COMING UP.
UH, ONE OF THE PROJECTS I MENTIONED WAS THE CEDAR CREST HONEY SPRINGS TRAIL.
THIS IS THE NORTHERN EXTENSION OF THAT.
THE CURRENT TRAIL ENDS AT THE ILLINOIS DART STATION ON THE BLUE LINE.
UH, THIS RIGHT OF WAY CONTINUES NORTH.
UH, YOU SEE THE DART TRACKS OFF TO THE LEFT OF THE IMAGE.
UH, SO THIS RIGHT OF WAY CONTINUES UP.
SO THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, THROUGH GETTING A RAISE GRANT, UH, WAS ABLE TO, UH, GET FUNDING TO COMPLETE THIS TRAIL FROM THE ILLINOIS STATION TO THE MORALE STATION.
AND I'VE PERSONALLY BEEN WAITING ON THIS TRAIL FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS.
UH, IF YOU THINK ABOUT BUILDING TRAILS FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL USE THEM TO GET PLACES AND ACCESS TRANSIT, THIS IS THE, THIS IS THE ONE, UH, THIS IS THE NEIGHBORHOOD FOR THAT.
UH, THERE'S A LOT OF FOLKS WHO ARE TRANSIT AND, YOU KNOW, WALKING DEPENDENT IN THIS AREA.
SO THIS WILL BE REALLY GREAT FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A WAY TO EASILY AND SAFELY GET TO THESE DART STATIONS.
UH, SO WE HAVE OUR FEDERAL FUNDING AND THEN THERE IS CITY FUNDING.
WE'RE WORKING WITH, UM, OUR INTERNAL PARTNERS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ON THE LOCAL MATCH FOR THIS ONE.
SO WE'RE PARTNERING WITH TRANSPORTATION AND THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS TO GET THIS TRAIL BUILT.
AND THEN A BIG ONE THAT WE'VE GOT AROUND FAIR PARK.
UH, THIS IS ANOTHER PROJECT THAT'S IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, UH, DALLAS COUNTY.
IT'S A TWO PHASE PROJECT TO BASICALLY BUILD A TRAIL THAT WILL GO ALL THE WAY AROUND FAIR PARK.
UH, WE'VE RECENTLY APPROVED THE FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE TXDOT THAT'S BEEN SENT BACK TO THEM FOR SIGNATURE.
AND THEN WE'LL BE WORKING WITH THE COUNTY.
UH, THEY HAD ALREADY STARTED THEIR PROJECT, BUT THEY PAUSED AS WE KIND OF FIGURED OUT THE LOGISTICS AND COORDINATION OF THE ENTIRE PROJECT.
AND SO NOW WE NEED TO WORK WITH THE COUNTY TO KIND OF KICKSTART THEIR PROJECT AGAIN.
AND SO WE'LL BE BEGINNING VERY SOON ON THE DESIGN OF THIS TRAIL THAT WILL GO AROUND FAIR PARK AND THEN TIE INTO THE SANTA FE TRAIL.

AND I'D LIKE TO ASK ABOUT WHY IS THAT NOT MORE OF A PRIORITY AND WHAT'S THE PLAN TO DO THAT? UH, NORTHWEST DALLAS WAS LEFT OUT OF THE LOOP, WHICH IS FINE, BUT YOU KNOW, WE'VE DONE THE NORTH HAVEN TRAIL AND THIS ONE LITTLE SECTION WOULD HAVE AN ENORMOUS IMPACT ON THE ABILITY TO MAKE THIS ENORMOUS 40 MILE CIRCLE.
SO IS THAT, WHAT'S THE PLAN FOR THAT? MM-HMM
SO THE ISSUE, IT, IT, IT'S A REALLY GREAT QUESTION AND IT IS ACTUALLY ONE THAT I AND FOLKS AT THE COUNTY AND THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS ARE LOOKING AT.
BUT THE ISSUE IS WE RUN OUT OF RIGHT OF WAY, WE RUN OUT OF WAYS TO GET FURTHER NORTH EASILY.

UH, THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT THE PARK BOARD AND COUNCIL APPROVED IN THE EARLY TWO THOUSANDS.
UH, AND WE WERE LOOKING AT THE ENTIRE, UM, MAP AND SAID, WELL, YOU KNOW, WE REALLY WANT TO MAKE A CATALYST PROJECT THAT IS CONNECTED.
SO HOW DO WE DO THAT? UH, AND FROM THAT MASTER PLAN, UM, AND LOOKING AT WHAT WAS PLANNED AND WHAT WAS FUNDED AND WHAT WASN'T, UH, WE CHOSE 11 MILES, UM, THROUGH FOUR PROJECTS AND SAID, WELL, IF WE BUILD THESE 11 MILES, THEN WE'LL MAKE A 50 MILE LOOP AROUND THE CITY OF DALLAS.
AND THE REAL THING THAT, THAT CREATES A LOT OF MOMENTUM AND POWER FOR THIS PROJECT IS THE FACT THAT WE ARE LEVERAGING A LOT OF INVESTMENTS THAT THE CITY HAS ALREADY MADE, SPECIFICALLY THE PARK DEPARTMENT OVER MANY, MANY YEARS.
NINE COUNCIL DISTRICTS, FIVE LIGHT RAIL STATIONS.
JARED WAS TALKING ABOUT THE, THE AMOUNT OF, UH, MILES OF THE LINEAR TRAIL SYSTEM.
UM, AND THIS IS, YOU KNOW, CONNECTING INTO THAT NEXT SLIDE.

UM, AND SO I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THOSE OTHER OPPORTUNITIES AS WE BUILD THE TRAIL SYSTEM SOUTH INTO PLEASANT GROVE OF WHAT THOSE OPPORTUNITIES WILL BE ALONG THE TRAIL THERE AS WELL.
SO THESE ARE THOSE FOUR PROJECTS I WAS PROJECTS I WAS TALKING ABOUT, UM, THE HIGHLINE CONNECTOR, THE LOOP PLAZA, THE DISCOVERY GATEWAY, AND THE TRINITY FOREST SPINE TRAIL.
UH, AND THEN THOSE TRAILS BELOW ARE THE EXISTING ONES THAT MAKE UP THE OTHER 39 MILES.
SO THE FIRST ONE IS THE HIGHLINE CONNECTOR.
UM, THIS PROJECT IS AT THE TAIL END OF CONSTRUCTION.
UM, IF YOU WERE TO GO OUT THERE TODAY, IT LOOKS COMPLETE.
UM, WE'RE JUST RUNNING THROUGH THE PUNCH LIST AND IT WILL BE FINISHED, UM, YOU KNOW, IMMINENTLY NEXT SLIDE.

AND SO THOSE 4 MILLION PEOPLE, UM, PREVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW, DEAD ENDED AT, UH, THE AMERICAN AIRLINE CENTER.
AND SO NOW THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO, UM, CONTINUE THAT, UH, MOVEMENT AND THAT DEVELOPMENT OVER INTO THE DESIGN DISTRICT, WHICH IS REALLY BURGEONING RIGHT NOW.

AND SO THE CITY ALLOWED THIS PARTICULAR, UM, SPECIFICALLY TRANSPORTATION, ALLOWED THIS INTERSECTION, UM, MOVEMENT, UH, TO BE APPROVED AND TO BE BUILT, AND THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED.
AND SO, UM, IF YOU GO OUT THERE TODAY, YOU'LL SEE SOME DEDICATED, UH, SIGNALS, TRAFFIC SIGNALS FOR THE TRAIL USERS, UM, AND THE, IT'S GOT A LITTLE BIKE PED SYMBOL.

SO THIS IS A PROJECT, UM, THAT CAME ABOUT A LITTLE BIT LATER, UM, IN THE LOOPS DEVELOPMENT.

AND SO WHAT WE'RE DOING IS, UM, THIS IS THE CURRENT TRAFFIC FLOW.
YOU KNOW, IF YOU'RE COMING FROM UPTOWN OR FROM VICTORY OR EVEN FROM THE DESIGN DISTRICT, YOU GO ALL THE WAY TO LIGHT STREET, UH, TO MAKE THAT U-TURN, UM, TO CONNECT THESE TWO PROJECTS.
AND THEN IN THE FUTURE, THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL HAVE.

UM, AND SO WE NEEDED TO DO THAT.
AND WHEN WE INITIALLY STARTED OUT, WE WERE TRYING TO BUILD THE TRAIL, UM, OVER THE LEVEE ITSELF.
UM, AND AS MANY OF Y'ALL ARE FAMILIAR WITH, THE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, UM, IS VERY ACTIVE IN THE LEVY.
AND SO WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO, UM, ACTUALLY BUILD, UM, IN THAT AREA.
AND SO WE HAD TO FIND A WAY TO STILL MAKE THAT TRAIL CONNECTION.
AND SO WE ENDED UP LOOKING AT SYLVAN, UM, AND TURNING IT INTO OUR NEW TRAIL CONNECTION NEXT SLIDE.
AND SO THE WAY THAT WE'RE DOING THIS IS SYLVAN, IF, FOR THOSE OF Y'ALL ARE FAMILIAR, UM, OVER THE PAST, YOU KNOW, 10 YEARS OR SO HAS BEEN, UM, STEADILY REDUCED FROM A SIX LANE ROADWAY DOWN TO A FOUR LANE COMPLETE STREET.
UM, AND THIS SECTION OF SYLVAN THAT GOES FROM, UM, RIVERFRONT, UH, DOWN TO SINGLETON IS THE ONLY SIX LANE SECTION LEFT.
AND SO WE WENT THROUGH A THOROUGHFARE PLAN AMENDMENT PROCESS, UM, A FEW YEARS AGO AND, UM, APPROVED THE, UH, LANE REDUCTION.
AND SO WHAT IS CURRENTLY SIX LANES, UM, IS NOW BEING REDUCED DOWN TO FOUR LANES, THREE LANES, OR SORRY, TWO IN EACH DIRECTION.
AND WITH THAT EXTRA RIGHT OF WAY, UM, WE ARE CREATING DEDICATED BIKE AND PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES, UM, ACROSS SYLVAN.

AND THIS'LL RUN ALL THE WAY, NOT JUST DOWN INTO THE LEVEE SYSTEM, UM, BUT THEN ALL THE WAY OVER TO, UM, WEST DALLAS, WHERE IT'LL CONTINUE, UH, WITH A TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT PROJECT TO CONNECT INTO THE EXISTING BIKE LANES, UM, ON SYLVAN SOUTH OF, UH, SINGLETON.AND THIS IS JUST A, A DETAIL OF, UM, WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE.
WITH OUR ADDITIONAL RIDE OF WAY, WE HAVE QUITE A BIT OF OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE SAFE BIKE AND PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES, UH, MAKE IT AESTHETICALLY, UM, PLEASING AND ALSO REDUCE SOME OF THE MAINTENANCE COSTS.
UH, AND THIS IS ACTUALLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AS WELL.
UM, THIS WAS APPROVED BY PARK BOARDING COUNCIL AT, UH, KIND OF LIKE THIRD QUARTER LAST YEAR.
AND SO IF YOU GO OUT TO SULLIVAN TODAY, YOU'LL NOTICE THE CONSTRUCTION FOR THIS PROJECT.
SAVING THE LONGEST FOR THE LAST.
SO THIS IS THE TRINITY FOREST SPINE TRAIL.
UH, THIS IS OUR MOST AMBITIOUS PROJECT BY CONNECTING, UH, WHITE ROCK LAKE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE TRINITY FOREST.
UH, THIS IS A NINE MILE TRAIL CONNECTION THAT HAS BEEN, UM, YOU KNOW, IN PEOPLE'S MINDS FOR OVER 20 YEARS.
AND SO THE MAIN, UH, THING TO KNOW ABOUT THAT THIS PROJECT, YOU KNOW, ALL OF OUR TRAILS ARE 12 FEET WIDE CONCRETE.
UM, BUT THE BIGGEST THING IS THAT WE LEARNED A LOT OF LESSONS FROM, UH, THE WHITE ROCK CREEK TRAIL, UM, WHICH WAS THE CITY'S FIRST TRAIL EVER CONSTRUCTED.
I THINK IT'S OVER 40 YEARS OLD NOW.
UM, AND THAT WAS BUILT, UM, YOU KNOW, FOLLOWING WHITE ROCK CREEK.
AND SO THERE WAS A LOT OF, UH, CHALLENGES WHEN IT COMES TO HYDROLOGY.
AND SO FOR THIS PROJECT, WE WANTED TO MAKE THIS A 50 YEAR PROJECT, YOU KNOW, ONE THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE A LOT OF MAINTENANCE THAT CAN COME BACK ONLINE VERY EASILY.
UM, AND SO THE WAY THAT WE ACTUALLY CONSTRUCTED DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTED THIS PROJECT IS THAT IT IS, UM, BUILT AT OR ABOVE THE FIVE-YEAR FLOOD ELEVATION.
UM, AND SO WHAT THAT MEANS IS THAT HISTORICALLY, UM, THIS AREA, THE FIVE-YEAR FLOOD ELEVATION WOULD KEEP THE TRAIL, YOU KNOW, HIGH AND ABOVE WATER, UM, 363 DAYS A YEAR.
UH, THERE WERE A FEW DAYS EVERY YEAR THAT, UM, ANNUAL RAINFALL WOULD PREDICT THAT THE TRAIL WOULD GO UNDERWATER BRIEFLY.
UH, BUT THEN IN MOST PLACES, SINCE IT'S BUILT ON A BERM, THE WATER WOULD COME OFF THE SIDES AS THE FLOODING RECEDES AND THE TRAIL WOULD COME BACK ONLINE.
UM, AND WE'VE SEEN, UH, IF YOU GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, WE'VE SEEN THAT, UM, THE, THAT THERE IS ACTUALLY VERY LITTLE MAINTENANCE TO TURN THIS BACK ON, YOU KNOW, SO IF YOU GO TO WHITE ROCK LAKE AFTER SOME OF THE MAJOR FLOOD EVENTS, YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW THE AMOUNT OF DEBRIS THAT IS ON THE SHORELINES THERE, AND SOMETIMES IT COVERS THE TRAILS THAT RUN AROUND THE, THE LAKE ITSELF.
UM, THAT HAS NOT SHOWN UP YET ON THIS PROJECT, AND WE DON'T ANTICIPATE THAT IT WILL, BECAUSE IF THERE IS ANY DEBRIS IN THE WATER, UM, WHEN THE TRAIL IS UNDER OR SUBMERGED, AS THE WATER RECEDES, THE THE DEBRIS, UH, FOLLOWS THE WATER AND IT, IT COMES OFF OF THE TRAIL.
AND SO IF YOU GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, OH, SORRY, THAT'S JUST A PRETTY PICTURE.
SO THIS IS A, A PHOTO THAT WAS TAKING DURING ONE OF OUR FLOOD EVENTS, UM, LAST YEAR.
AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THE TRAIL IS STILL ABOVE WATER, UM, WHEN THIS AREA IS, IS PRETTY WET.
UM, SO WE THINK THAT THIS HAS BEEN INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL AND WE APPRECIATE THE, YOU KNOW, THE AMOUNT OF INFORMATION THAT WAS BROUGHT BY THE PARKS DEPARTMENT TEAM TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT, UM, YOU KNOW, STANDS THE TEST OF TIME.
OKAY, SO NOW IF YOU GO BACK ONE, THERE WE GO.
SO THE OTHER PART OF, UH, THE TRINITY FOREST SPINE TRAIL IS, UH, PROGRAMMING THAT WE'RE DOING ALONGSIDE, UM, THE TRAIL ITSELF.
AND SO THIS IS, UM, PART OF THE DOBA SYSTEM.
UM, YOU KNOW, TWO YEARS AGO Y'ALL APPROVED A DOBA MASTER PLAN, UM, AND ALLOWED FOR NEW DOBA PARKS TO BE BUILT.
UM, AND SO WE PARTNERED WITH DOBA TO BUILD THE, UM, JUMPS THAT YOU SEE IN FRONT OF YOU.
THERE'S ALSO SOME NATURAL SURFACE TRAILS IN THIS AREA.
AND, UM, THIS IS OUR EFFORTS, UM, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EXISTING PARTNERS THAT THE PARKS DEPARTMENT HAS.
UM, AND ALSO WITH, UM, YOU KNOW, COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO ARE ASKING FOR THESE TYPES OF AMENITIES TO SAY, YOU KNOW, WE, WE WANT THIS HARD SURFACE TRAIL, BUT WE ALSO WANT ACTIVITY AROUND IT.
UM, BECAUSE THE TRAIL ITSELF IS, IS WONDERFUL.
BUT, UM, YOU KNOW, IF SOME OF THE THINGS THAT COME UP WITH, UM, YOU KNOW, OPENING UP THESE CORRIDORS, UM, LIKE ILLEGAL DUMPING, YOU KNOW, CRIME, UM, HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS, THOSE KIND OF THINGS, THOSE DETER USE.
AND SO WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING IS, IS WORKING ON WAYS TO BRING PEOPLE INTO THESE SPACES, UM, BECAUSE THE MORE PEOPLE WE HAVE ON THE TRAILS AND THEN THESE PARKS, UM, THE FEWER INCIDENTS WE'LL HAVE.

SO THIS ONE HAS BEEN REALLY SUCCESSFUL.UH, THIS IS ADJACENT TO VALLEY GLEN, UM, AND IS OUR FIRST PARTNER.
WE CHOSE GOBA BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE CITY OF DALLAS FOR 40 YEARS.
UM, AND UM, AND THEN THE SECOND REASON WHY IS BECAUSE WHEN THE SAMUEL GRAND MASTER PLAN, UM, WAS, UH, CREATED A FEW YEARS AGO, ONE OF THE NUMBER ONE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WAS ASKED FOR BY THE COMMUNITY WAS NATURAL SURFACE TRAILS.
UM, AND SO IT'S NOT IN THIS IMAGE, BUT BACK BEHIND THIS CAMERA SHOT TO THE LEFT IS, UH, IS A SINGLE TRACK THAT RUNS AROUND THE PROPERTY THAT YOU COULD HIKE.
UM, IF IT'S NOT TOO MUDDY, 'CAUSE THIS IS STILL IN A FLOODPLAIN.

UM, THIS IS A RENDERING OF WHAT THE LAKE JUNE 1 75, UM, INTERSECTION IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE IF ANYBODY'S BEEN DOWN TO PLEASANT GROVE.
RECENTLY IN THIS AREA, YOU'LL SEE THAT THIS IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION TODAY.
SO THE WHITE ROCK LAKE FOR REFERENCE THAT'S DOWNTOWN IN THE LEFT, UH, WHITE ROCK LAKE IS TO THE RIGHT.
AND SO LAKE JUNE ROAD PREVIOUSLY, UM, WAS A TWO LANE BRIDGE ACROSS 1 75 WITH NO SIDEWALKS.
SO THIS ALLOWS US TO CREATE BIKE LANES, WIDE SIDEWALKS, AND THEN YOU CAN SEE, UM, THERE ON THE, UH, NORTH SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY.
AND IF YOU GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, UM, WE ARE CREATING, OR WE HAVE CREATED A ONE MILE ELEVATED TRAIL, UM, THAT CONNECTS INTO A NEW BRIDGE AND ALSO TO THE DART STATION THERE AT LAKE JUNE.
AND THEN ACROSS THE STREET, ACROSS THE HIGHWAY, I MEAN, TO CONNECT INTO, UH, PEMBERTON HILL ROAD, WHERE THERE WAS ANOTHER TRAIL JUST BUILT AS PART OF THE 2017 BOND PACKAGE.
AND SO IF YOU ARE ON 1 75 DRIVING AND YOU LOOK TO THE NORTH, YOU WILL NOT MISS THIS BRIDGE THAT IS ACTUALLY HIGHER THAN THE ROADWAY.
UM, AND SO THIS IS ONE OF THOSE REALLY COMPLICATED FUNDING PARTNERSHIPS.
THIS PROJECT IS BEING DELIVERED BY TECH STUNT, UM, BUT THE PARKS DEPARTMENT, THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT, AND DOTS COUNTY ARE ALL PARTICIPATING, UM, IN THIS.
UM, AND WE SUBMITTED AND WON A RAISE GRANT BACK IN 2021.
UM, AND SO THIS PROJECT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND ANTICIPATED TO OPEN THIS YEAR, UM, AS ONE OF OUR MOST SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS.

UM, THESE LAST TWO MILES ARE THE MOST COMPLICATED, UH, ONE BECAUSE WE'RE PASSING AN ACTIVE, WE'RE BUILDING A, WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO BUILD A BRIDGE OVER AN ACTIVE RAILROAD, UM, THAT RUNS THERE, UH, AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF PARKDALE LAKE.
UM, AND THEN THE SECOND ONE IS A TRAIL FROM LAWN VIEW DART STATION DOWN TO, UM, THE PROJECT THAT YOU JUST SAW ON 1 75.
UH, AND THAT RUNS THROUGH A REALLY DEEP AND WET AREA OF, UM, PROPERTY THAT'S OWNED BY DALLAS WATER UTILITIES.
UM, BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS, IS THAT BOTH OF THOSE PROJECTS, WE HAVE COMPLETELY RESOLVED THE RIGHT OF WAY.
AND SO REALLY, UM, IT'S NOW JUST A MATTER OF TIME SO THAT WE CAN WORK OUT THE ENGINEERING AND, UM, GET THESE PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
THE REASON WHY THE THE TRINITY FOREST SPINE TRAIL IS SO SIGNIFICANT IS THAT IT IS REALLY GOING TO CONNECT PARTS OF DALLAS THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN, UM, TIED INTO THE CITYWIDE SYSTEM.
UM, SO THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT FOR US.
UM, AND THEN THE OTHER THING IS THAT BY THE TIME WE'RE DONE, WE'LL HAVE SPENT AROUND A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, UM, ON THE, ON THE TRINITY FOREST SPINE TRAIL WITH, UM, YOU KNOW, OVER 90 MILLION OF THAT BEING SPENT SOUTH OF I 30.
UM, AND SO THIS IS REALLY SETTING A NEW PRECEDENT, UM, FOR, UH, SUSTAINABILITY.
IT'S ALSO ACTIVATING A TON OF NEW GREEN SPACE.
UM, AND SO WE'LL BE BRINGING BRINGING ON ADDITIONAL PARTNERS AND PROGRAMMING, UM, YOU KNOW, AS WE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THESE PROJECTS.
UM, BUT RIGHT NOW, YOU KNOW, THE, THE BIG, UM, I THINK THE BIG TAKEAWAY IS THAT NINE OF THE 11 MILES ARE FULLY FUNDED AND EITHER OPEN OR UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

AND EVEN THOUGH THE KATY TRAIL IS VERY WELL TRAVELED, UM, I THINK IT'S GOING TO BRING NEW LIFE TO THAT SECTION OF THE, UH, OUR TRAIL SYSTEM AND THE KATY AND REALLY INVIGORATE PEOPLE TO USE OUR TRAILS TO GET TO, YOU KNOW, VICTORY PARK AND, AND, YOU KNOW, AMERICAN AIRLINES AND BEYOND.
AND THEN, WOW, ALL THE WORK ON THE LAST SECTION THE LONGEST IS PRETTY REMARKABLE.
SO I GUESS MY QUESTION, PHILIP, IS WHERE ARE YOU, AND I MAYBE MISSED IT ON THE LAST SLIDE.
WHAT MORE DO YOU STILL HAVE TO FUNDRAISE FOR AND WHAT GRANTS KIND OF, DO YOU HAVE OUTSTANDING, UM, UNDERSTANDING, UM, YEAH, JUST KIND OF GETTING A STATUS ON WHAT YOU HAVE LEFT TO RAISE MONEY ON.
SO RIGHT NOW WE HAVE SPENT OUT ABOUT, WELL, WHAT WE HAVE, THE, THE NORTH PHASE TWO IS ABOUT TO GO TO CONSTRUCTION.
UM, WE'RE GONNA BE BRINGING THAT TO Y'ALL HERE IN JUST A COUPLE MONTHS.
UM, BUT AT THAT POINT, THAT'LL BE $95 MILLION IN PROJECTS UNDERWAY OR OPEN.
UM, SO THAT INCLUDES THE ONES THAT I MENTIONED.
AND THEN THE LAST TWO PROJECTS THAT WE ARE FUNDRAISING FOR RIGHT NOW.
UM, WE ACTUALLY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SECOND CAPITAL CAMPAIGN, SO WE'RE RAISING 15 MILLION MORE DOLLARS PRIVATELY.
UM, WE ARE JUST OVER 9 MILLION SECURED, UM, AND ANTICIPATES, UM, A LOT OF THE FOUNDATIONS TO COME IN THIS NEXT YEAR ACTUALLY.
UM, AND THAT 15 MILLION IS GOING TO BE USED TO EITHER BUILD OUT THE PROGRAMMING ALONGSIDE THE LOOP LIKE WE DID WITH CREEKSIDE AND DOBA, UM, AND THEN ALSO TO FUND THE DESIGN AND ENGINEERING OF THOSE LAST TWO MILES, UM, WHICH WILL THEN BE USED TO UNLOCK THE PUBLIC FUNDING FROM, UM, THESE DIFFERENT, UH, COMPETITIVE GRANTS THAT JARED WAS ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT.
SO RIGHT NOW, UM, THE CITY OF DALLAS IS, UM, GOING TO BE OUR SPONSOR FOR A TXDOT, UM, ONE OF THOSE TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVE SETASIDE PROGRAMS. THIS IS THE ONE THAT TDOT'S DOING.
UM, THE BRIDGE THAT WE'RE BUILDING OVER UP IS THE PERFECT FIT FOR THAT CRITERIA BECAUSE TDOT WANTS TO PUT BIG MONEY INTO BIG PROJECTS, AND THE BRIDGE IS GONNA BE, BASICALLY, WE'RE GONNA BE REBUILDING THE NORTH HAVEN BRIDGE, BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF SOUTHEAST DALLAS.
UM, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES TO CROSS AN ACTIVE RAIL LINE THAT'S BEEN THERE FOR OVER A HUNDRED YEARS.
UM, AND THAT, YOU KNOW, IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE ANYTIME SOON.
AND SO THAT'S GONNA BE, UM, ANYWHERE BETWEEN, YOU KNOW, 20 AND 30 MILLION, UM, FOR THAT.
AND THEN THE LAST TWO MILES I'M ACTUALLY WORKING WITH, UM, DALLAS WATER UTILITIES TO SEE IF WE COULD UNLOCK, UM, SOME, SOME FLOOD MITIGATION OR RESILIENCY MONEY.
UH, ONE OF THE GOALS THAT I HAVE, UM, YOU KNOW, AS THE DIRECTOR OF THIS ORGANIZATION IS TO DIVERSIFY OUR FUNDING SO THAT THE CITY WILL HAVE NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN THE FUTURE.
UM, AND SO THAT'S A BIG, UH, PUSH FOR ME IS ON THIS FLOODING ASPECT OF IT BECAUSE THAT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT WE REALLY HAVE A TEMPLATE FOR HERE YET.
UM, YOU KNOW, THE PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT HAS, YOU KNOW, LOTS OF SUPER SUCCESSFUL P THREES, UM, BUT DALLAS WATER UTILITIES, UM, HAS NOT REALLY EXPLORED THAT ROUTE IN THE PAST.
UM, BUT THAT THERE IS A LOT OF INFRASTRUCTURE MONEY FOR THOSE TYPES OF PROJECTS.
THE THE ONE THAT I'M, UH, REALLY WANNA HIGHLIGHT THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT AND WORKING WITH TO SEE IS, UH, WATERLOO GREENWAY IN, UH, AUSTIN.
UM, SO $230 MILLION PARK RIGHT NEXT TO THE CAPITOL.
UH, 200 MILLION OF IT WAS FLOOD MITIGATION FUNDING.
AND SO, YOU KNOW, THAT'S, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT AND, YOU KNOW, FEEL PRETTY CONFIDENT THAT WE CAN FIND, UM, AN APPROPRIATE SOURCE TO FINISH OUT THAT PROJECT.
AND WE'LL BE, UM, YOU KNOW, HAVE SOME MORE INFORMATION AROUND THAT HERE THIS NEXT YEAR.
WELL, I THINK THIS IS SUCH A GAME CHANGER FOR THE CITY AND IS REALLY ELEVATING HOW TRAILS CAN BE USED AND THOUGHT OF.
AND I JUST REALLY, IT'S REMARKABLE BECAUSE IT'S NOT JUST THE SUCCESS OF THE KATY TRAIL WAS WHAT LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR ALL OF THIS WORK, BUT WE, AS YOU ALL HAVE CORRECTLY IDENTIFIED, AND YOU DID SO A DECADE AGO, WAS THAT WE NEED TO HAVE TRAILS THAT CONNECT NEIGHBORHOODS AND WHERE PEOPLE LIVE AND NOT JUST EXPECTING PEOPLE TO MOVE CLOSER TO THOSE, UH, TRAIL OPPORTUNITIES.
AND IT CONNECTS, AS YOU RIGHTLY SAID, YOU KNOW, HIGHLINE'S A GOOD EXAMPLE OF HOW THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND THAT'S A DIFFERENT PART OF THE CITY AND, YOU KNOW, WITH RETAIL, RESTAURANTS, OTHER BUSINESSES THAT WOULD NOT HISTORICALLY BE ADJACENT TO A TRAIL.
AND SO I KNOW YOU'VE HAD TO MAKE LOTS OF ADJUSTMENTS OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS AND, BUT I MAJOR KUDOS ON THE WAY THAT YOU'VE SOUGHT PUBLIC FUNDS IN PARTNERSHIP

WITH THE CITY AND OTHER PUBLIC AGENCIES.SO, UM, I, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE BRIEFING AND THE UPDATE AND, UM, I'M JUST SO EXCITED TO GET TO UTILIZE MORE OF THESE TRAILS AND I LOVE HEARING THAT THEY'RE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
AND I, I WOULD RECOMMEND, UM, EVERYBODY SHOULD GO AND THE NIGHT OF AN AMERICAN AIRLINES EVENT, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER IT IS, START YOUR EVENING IN THE DESIGN DISTRICT, GET DINNER, DRINKS, WHATEVER, AND THEN WALK OVER BECAUSE IT IS AN UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE.

UH, EVEN THREE OR FOUR YEARS AGO, I DON'T THINK ANYONE WOULD'VE FIRST FORESEEN HOW, UH, THE GROWTH THERE AND HOW PEOPLE HAVE COME IN AND RESIDENTIAL AND IT'S, UH, MAKING THAT CONNECTION AND MAKING IT WORK.
