I MOVE TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE PARKING REFORM DEVELOPMENT CODE AMENDMENT AS RECOMMENDED BY CITY PLAN COMMISSION WITH THE FOLLOWING CHANGES.

ONE, INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL AND BUSINESS SERVICE USES WILL MAINTAIN PARKING RATIOS ONLY WHEN CONTIGUOUS TO A SINGLE FAMILY USE, LOCATED IN A SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL ZONING DISTRICT.

NUMBER TWO, REMOVE PARKING MINIMUMS FOR ALL USES LOCATED IN DESIGNATED HISTORIC BUILDINGS.

NUMBER THREE, STRIKE CHANGE TO DEVELOPMENT IMPACT REVIEW THRESHOLD BY RETAINING THE CURRENT THRESHOLD OF 6,000 TRIPS PER DAY.

FOUR.

RETAIN CURRENT MINIMUMS FOR HIGH SCHOOLS ONLY AND REMOVE MINIMUMS FOR ALL OTHER SCHOOLS.

FIVE, FOR RESTAURANTS, CLARIFY THAT THERE ARE NO PARKING MINIMUMS FOR THE FIRST 2,500 SQUARE FEET OF FLOOR AREA.

AND FOR BARS, RETAIN THE CPC RECOMMENDATION.

SIX.

FOR MULTI-FAMILY DEVELOPMENTS OF 200 DWELLING UNITS OR MORE, REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF ONE SPACE PER UNIT FOR MULTI-FAMILY DEVELOPMENTS OF 20 UNITS OR LESS.

REMOVE PARKING MINIMUMS FOR MULTIFAMILY DEVELOPMENTS BETWEEN 20 AND 200 UNITS REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF ONE HALF SPACE PER UNIT.

AND LASTLY, STRIKE THE DRIVEWAY ENTRANCES CONDITIONS FROM THE DESIGN OF PARKING PROVISIONS IN SECTION 51 A DASH 4.301.

IN PARTICULAR, THE MULTIFAMILY DEVELOPMENT WAS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO DISTRICT 10 AND, UM, I THINK, UH, ALLOWING FOR ONE SPACE PER UNIT FOR OUR LARGER COMPLEXES WITH THE 200 UNITS OR MORE WILL BE VERY BENEFICIAL.

I WOULD ALSO MAKE A COMMENT TO SAY THAT THE HALF MILE VERSUS QUARTER

MILE, OR INCLUDE EVEN INCLUDING BUS RAPID TRANSIT, RAPID RAPID BUS ROADS WAS HEAVILY DEBATED AND THERE WERE LOTS OF MOTIONS AT CITY PLAN COMMISSION.

SO THIS WAS A VERY THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATION THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION HAD, UH, IN THEIR INITIAL.

SO IF YOU'LL STOP RIGHT THERE AND EXPLAIN TO ME A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT, LIKE WHAT WERE THOSE DIFFERENCES? BECAUSE, BECAUSE I'M, I'M, I'M ALL FOR COMPROMISE.

I'M ALL FOR THE, THE HEAVY DEBATE.

BUT WHAT, WHAT WERE THERE, WHAT WERE THE MAIN COMMENTS FOR MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE, MAYBE A LITTLE BIT LESS, YOU KNOW, IT'S LIKE, I JUST WANT TO GET GET MY HEAD WRAPPED AROUND THAT FOR YOU.

YES.

SO THE FIRST MOTION THAT CITY PLAN COMMISSION HAD, UH, HAD THIS ONE AND THEN IT HAD A COMPANION MOTION TO INCLUDE ALSO QUARTER MILE FOR BUS, RAPID BUS STATIONS.

THE QUARTER MILE FOR BUS STATIONS MOTION FAILED.

UM, BECAUSE, UM, WE DIDN'T HAVE A MAP.

THEY WEREN'T, THERE WERE THE DISCUSSION LIKE, ARE THEY, HOW WOULD WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE? MAYBE DART DECIDES TO CHANGE THEM, ALTHOUGH THEY ARE QUOTED ON A MAP.

THEN WE DECIDED, OKAY, IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO POSTPONE A LITTLE BIT OF CONVERSATION.

UM, THEN, UM, THE SECOND, THE, THE FIRST MOTION, WHICH WAS HALF A MILE, NO MINIMUM FOR HALF A MILE, UM, RADIUS AROUND LIGHT RAIL AND STREET CAR STATIONS.

UM, THERE WERE I THINK ONE OR TWO MOTIONS THAT WERE TRYING TO ONE, EXCLUDE RESIDENTIAL FROM THIS ONE AND IT FAILED.

AND THEN THE SECOND ONE TO REDUCE IT TO QUARTER MILE.

AND THAT FAILED AS WELL.

THE, UH, CONCERNS WERE REGARDING, FOR INSTANCE, SINGLE FAMILY OR EXISTING DEVELOPMENT PATTERNS THAT NOT NECESSARILY WILL WARRANT A HIGHER DENSITY OR THEY WILL NOT WARRANT GOOD WALKABILITY.

UM, SO THAT, THAT WAS KIND OF THE RATIONALE.

HOWEVER, THOSE MOTIONS FAILED.

UM, ONE STRONG ARGUMENT FOR THE HALF MILE IS THAT, AGAIN, WE'LL GO BACK TO FOUR DALLAS 2.0 THAT WE WAS JUST ADOPTED IN SEPTEMBER BY THIS BODY.

AND FOUR DALLAS SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBES TODS AND AS HALF MILE AROUND RAIL.

UH, BUT ALSO FOR DALLAS ALSO SAYS THAT OFTENLY, YOU MAY FIND QUARTER MILE AROUND BUS OR BIKE TRAILS.

THAT THAT'S ALSO, WE NEED TO TREAT THAT WITH PRIORITY WHEN IT COMES TO WALKABILITY.

SO THOSE WERE IN AN EFFORT TO IMPLEMENT FOR DALLAS AND THE HONOR, THE CONVERSATIONS THAT WE HAD BACK THEN.

UM, CCPC, UM, DECIDED TO HAVE A COMPROMISE AND ONLY PICK THE HALF MILE AROUND RAIL STATIONS.

SURE.

AND, AND I APPRECIATE THAT.

IT'S, UM, THE HARD PART FOR US IS, I MEAN, I'M JUST, WHERE MY PAUSES IS, WE DIDN'T REALLY DEBATE IT MUCH HERE AT THE COUNCIL WHEN IT CAME TO FORWARD DOS 2.0 BECAUSE WE WERE, I MEAN, WE WERE COMPLETELY IN THE, IN THE MIX OF, UM, HOUSING.

I MEAN, THAT WAS WHAT WE PROBABLY SPENT 98% OF OUR TIME ON.

AND SO WE DID APPROVE A FORWARD DOS 2.0 THAT, UM, I DEFINITELY DO SUPPORT.

UM, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT'S LIKE WE REALLY DIDN'T GO, UM, THROUGH A LOT OF THE PIECES THAT WE SHOULD HAVE, UM, AS A COUNCIL BECAUSE IT BECAME ALL ABOUT THE HOUSING WHEN IT CAME TO FOURPLEX, DUPLEX, TRIPLEX, YOU KNOW, THAT WAS, BUT THE, THE DEBATE BECAME LIKE ENTIRELY ABOUT, SO THIS IS WHERE I'M GONNA HAVE MY PAUSE.

UM, I'M NOT SAYING THAT I'M GONNA BE AGAINST THIS OR I'M GONNA BE IN FAVOR OF IT, BUT I DO HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND ISSUE WHEN IT COMES TO THE HALF MILE.

HALF MILE IS, IS, IS A LONG WAY TO GO FOR LIGHT RAIL.

I DON'T HAVE AN ISSUE WITH SO MUCH AS I DO FOR BUSES SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS, WE TYPICALLY THINK LIKE, OH, A HALF MILE IS NOTHING.

IT IS NOTHING.

BUT WHERE I'M GONNA BRING UP, WHERE HALF MILE BECOMES A LOT IS, UM, I'M GONNA GIVE DALLAS LOVE FIELD WHEN WE MOVE THE AIR, THE, UM, UM, THE CAR RENTAL, UM, SHORT, WHAT, WHAT DO WE WANT IT NOT SHORT TERM RENTAL CAR, BUT UM, FOR AIRBNB, NOT AIRBNB, SORRY, I'M GETTING THAT MIXED UP WITH, WITH, UM, AIR, WITH, UH, UBER.

SORRY, I'M TRYING TO SAY UBER.

WE'VE HAD A BIG LONG WEEKEND, SO, UM, RIDE SHARE.

SO, UM, BUT RIDE SHARE AND, UM, WHEN WE ADDED 700 FEET TO WHERE PEOPLE GO TO GET RIDE SHARE, PEOPLE REALLY LOST THEIR, LIKE, MINDS OVER IT.

AND I GET THE DIFFERENCES THAT, YOU KNOW, YOU MIGHT BE HAULING LUGGAGE, YOU KNOW, THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER.

BUT WHAT REALLY GOT TO ME WAS THE FOLKS THAT HAVE, UM, YOU KNOW, MOBILITY ISSUES, YOU KNOW, WHETHER THEY'RE ILL, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO DO FLY IN BECAUSE WE HAVE ONE OF THE BEST, UM, ALWAYS IN THE TOP THREE IN THE NATION, BUT SOMETIMES IN THE TOP THREE IN THE WORLD.

UM, HOSPITAL DISTRICTS HERE IN THE CITY OF DALLAS.

AND THEN WE HAVE OTHER FOLKS THAT, YOU KNOW, MAYBE JUST ARE MOBILITY IMPAIRED OR THEY'RE ELDERLY AND YOU KNOW, THAT THAT DISTANCE WAS JUST A LITTLE TOO MUCH FOR THEM.

I UNDERSTOOD IT.

WE CHANGED IT AND WE HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM ANYONE SINCE, UM, WHERE IT IS NOW.

AND THAT IS

LESS THAN A HALF MILE.

SO, UM, THAT, THAT'S MY ONE QUESTION IS, YOU KNOW, ABOUT THAT, IS HOW, HOW DID WE TARGET OR FIGURE OUT IS A QUARTER MILE REALLY BETTER THAN, UM, YOU KNOW, WHEN IT COMES FOR JUST BUS LIGHT RAIL AGAIN IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT JUST BECAUSE I, I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY'RE JUST DIFFERENT.

UM, BUT FOR THE BUS, 'CAUSE THAT PERSON FOR THE BUS PROBABLY DID WALK, UM, IN ORDER TO CATCH THEIR BUS.

SO IF YOU CAN GIVE ME SOME DETAIL THERE, UM, TO GIVE ME A LITTLE BIT BETTER, UM, UNDERSTANDING OF WHERE WE GOT TO.

'CAUSE I KNOW IT WAS A COMPROMISE, BUT, AND I'M ALL FOR THE COMPROMISE, IT'S JUST, I JUST WANNA HEAR A LITTLE BIT MORE.

SO, UM, AS IT STANDS NOW, CITY PLAN COMMISSION DID NOT INCLUDE ANY RECOMMENDATION FOR BUS STATIONS.

THE ONLY RECOMMENDATION FOR TOD IS THE HALF MILE FOR LIGHT RAIL AND STREETCAR.

SO THERE WAS NO RECOMMENDATION.

IF THE BODY WANTS TO INCLUDE QUARTER MILES AROUND, UH, QUARTER MILE RADIUS AROUND RAPID BUS, WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP, BUT THEY, WE WILL NEED TO MAKE A MOTION.

SURE.

SOUNDS GREAT.

AND WHAT I'D LIKE TO KNOW IS HOW MANY, UM, BUS STATIONS, RAPID BUS DO WE HAVE THAT DON'T HAVE THE LIGHT RAIL WHEN, WHEN RAPID BUS AND LIGHT RAIL ARE TOGETHER? IT'S A DIFFERENT SCENARIO TO ME THAN WHEN IT'S JUST RAPID BUS.

I KNOW WE HAVE A FEW, WE DON'T HAVE A TON OF THEM, BUT WE DO HAVE A FEW OF THEM THROUGHOUT THE CITY.

OH, I NEED TO MAKE THAT.

LET, IF YOU ALLOW ME A FEW MINUTES, BECAUSE THERE WAS A CONVERSATION AT CPC, WE LOOKED A LITTLE BIT DART, DIDN'T HAVE A LOT OF RAPID, UH, RAPID BUS LINES.

A LOT OF THEM WERE ACTUALLY OVERLAPPING ON CORRIDORS THAT WERE PARALLEL.

SO THE, THE TOD FOR LIGHT WOULD CAPTURE THAT.

UM, ALLOW ME A LITTLE BIT, I KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE RAIL STATIONS, BUT NOT SO MUCH ABOUT BUSES.

RIGHT? AND THAT'S THE ISSUE, NOT NOT FROM YOU, BUT JUST THE ISSUE OVERALL IS WE ALWAYS THINK ABOUT LIGHT RAIL BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT, UM, THE CITY OF DALLAS AS WELL AS DART HAS REALLY BEEN FOCUSED ON OVER THE LAST 25 YEARS IS LIGHT RAIL.

AND IT'S LIKE WE'VE FORGOTTEN THAT WE HAVE BUS ROUTES AND THERE ARE AREAS, UM, LIKE, LIKE THE CITY OF DALLAS, I KNOW THAT I HAVE ONE OF THOSE LIGHT RAIL RAPID, I MEAN NOT LIGHT RAIL, UM, BUS RAPID DEPOTS, THAT RAPID BUS DEPOTS.

IT'S IN FAR WEST DALLAS IN THE LEADBETTER, UM, COMMUNITY.

IT'S THE ONLY DEPOT THAT I HAVE IN WEST DALLAS.

I CAN'T SPEAK FOR, UM, WHEN YOU GO SOUTH AND, YOU KNOW, TO SOUTHERN DALLAS DOWN TO, YOU KNOW, EVEN MAYOR PRO TEMS AREA.

UM, BUT LIKE DISTRICT SIX, I HAVE TWO LIGHT RAIL STOPS.

NEITHER ONE IS AT A, YOU KNOW, IS A WHAT THAT I WOULD CALL A TRANSIT OR, YOU KNOW, STATION.

BUT WE ARE WORKING ON A TOD AT ONE OF THEM, WHICH IT WORKS, IT'S GONNA WORK.

BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THESE RAPID BUS STATIONS, UM, THEY ARE DIFFERENT THAN THE LIGHT RAIL ONES.

YOU KNOW, WE DON'T HAVE THE ELEVATION, WE DON'T HAVE, UM, THE DISTANCE AROUND THEM.

AND SO THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I THINK THAT WE REALLY SHOULD LOOK INTO.

AND SO, UM, I I, I DON'T, I WANNA MOVE THIS FORWARD, UM, MAYOR PRO TEM AND MAKE SURE THAT WE GET THIS TO THE FULL BODY, UM, SO THAT WE CAN HAVE THE ROBUST CONVERSATION WITH ALL OF MY COLLEAGUES.

BUT I WOULD LIKE SOME MORE INFORMATION WHEN IT COMES TO THE, UM, RAPID BUS, UM, AREAS AND SO THAT WE CAN MAYBE MAKE, IF, YOU KNOW, I DON'T WANT TO PUT IN MOTION IN NOW AND AMEND ANYTHING, BUT SO THAT WE CAN REALLY LOOK AT THOSE RAPID BUS STATIONS WHEN IT COMES TO TOD BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST AS, UM, IMPORTANT TO PUT DTOD AROUND.

THEY'RE NEVER GONNA GET LIGHT RAIL, THEY'RE NEVER GONNA GET IN A COMMUTER RAIL OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, BUT THEY'RE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE LIGHT RAIL STATIONS.

SO, UM, I'M, I'LL GIVE YOU TIME.

YOU KNOW, WE CAN DO THIS OFFLINE BETWEEN NOW AND UM, NEXT WEEK.

UM, BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT'S REALLY BEEN ON MY MIND AND I REALLY WANT TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT.

UM, OUR, UH, CURRENT, UH, CITY'S CURRENT PARKING CODE AND THE MANDATES ARE, AS WE KNOW, WILDLY OUT OF DATE SINCE MAINLY THE 1960S.

UM, I DON'T AGREE WITH EVERYTHING IN THE CPC VERSION.

I, I DON'T THINK THE CHANGES WE'RE EVEN DOING TODAY ARE GOING FAR ENOUGH.

BUT THIS IS A COMPROMISE AND I DO SUPPORT THE COMPROMISE.

UH, CPC WORKED ON THIS REFORM STARTING BACK IN 2019, AND, UH, SO ALMOST SIX YEARS NOW GOT US 90% OF THE WAY THERE.

I THINK WITH, UM, THE COMPROMISE WE'VE COME UP WITH, WE'RE EITHER 99% OR A HUNDRED PERCENT WE'RE, WE'RE THERE.

AND, UM, AND I REALLY APPRECIATE MY COLLEAGUES, UH, CHAIRMAN STEWART, CHAIRMAN RIDLEY, FOR SPENDING THE TIME WITH ME AND STAFF TO HAMMER OUT SOMETHING THAT WE, WE HOPE OUR COLLEAGUES WILL SUPPORT.

UM, WANNA ALSO THANK, UH, CHAIRMAN NVA.

I THOUGHT THOSE COMMENTS ON THE, THE BUS, UM, TRANSIT STOPS ARE REALLY IMPORTANT.

I, I THOUGHT THAT WAS A MISS THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE THAT IN BEFORE AND I FULLY SUPPORT THAT, UM, IF WE WANT TO BRING THAT UP AT THE COUNCIL LEVEL.

SO BESIDES CREATING A MORE EFFICIENT PERMITTING PROCESS, WHICH I THINK IS A HUGE PIECE OF THIS THAT GETS OVERLOOKED SOMETIMES, AND REDUCING STAFF TIME SPENT MAKING SENSE OF OUR CURRENT COMPLICATED PARKING CODE, THIS REFORM

WILL HELP MAKE HOUSING MORE AFFORDABLE AND SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES AND DISTRICT ONE AND ACROSS THE CITY.

SO HERE'S A COUPLE REAL WORLD EXAMPLES OF HOW THIS IS GONNA IMPACT BUSINESSES ON THE GROUND.

THERE'S TWO SMALL BUSINESSES IN DOWNTOWN ELMWOOD THAT WOULD'VE GREATLY BENEFITED FROM THESE CHANGES.

DOWNTOWN ELMWOOD IS A, ONE OF MY, MY, UH, CORE NEIGHBORHOODS IN NORTH OF CLIFF.

THE FIRST IS SLOW AND STEADY COFFEE SHOP WHOSE OPENING WAS DELAYED BY MANY MONTHS BECAUSE OF PARKING.

AND THEY EVENTUALLY HAD TO PAVE THEIR OPEN GREEN SPACE IN THEIR FRONT YARD, UH, TO PROVIDE THE PARKING THEY NEEDED, EVEN THOUGH THERE'S PARKING UP AND DOWN THE STREET ON EDGEFIELD.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS A HISTORIC BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN ELMWOOD, WHICH HAS STRUGGLED TO FIND TENANTS THAT CAN MAKE THE SPACE WORK BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT PARKING MANDATES.

UM, WE ALL KNOW OUR ELMWOOD NEIGHBORS WHO LIVE NEARBY.

THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT ARE WALKING AND BIKING THERE AND WANNA SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS, BUT IT CAN'T MAKE IT WORK WITH THE TENANTS BECAUSE OF THE PARKING MANDATES.

AND ON THE HOUSING SIDE OF THE HOUSE, YOU KNOW, I'VE GOT THE BOOK PAVE PARADISE HERE.

SO IN MARCH OF MARCH 26TH OF THIS YEAR, WE AMENDED THE HOTEL OCCUPANCY ORDINANCE AND WE WILL SIT AT 17.6% FOR VISIT DALLAS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE AS WE MOVE IN 2026 TO GET THE OFFICE OF ARTS AND CULTURE TO THE STATUTORY 15% FOR RIGHT NOW CONVENTION AND EVENT SERVICES.

WE'LL STAY AT THE 67.4% AS WE WORK THROUGH THE DEBT SERVICE AND OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT OF THE CONVENTION CENTER AND OUR OTHER ASSETS.

SO WITH THAT, I'LL, IF WE COULD GO TO THE NEXT PAGE, I'D LIKE TO FOCUS A LITTLE BIT ON THE AUDIT.

A LOT OF YOU WERE HERE WHEN WE WENT THROUGH THE AUDIT IN 2020 AND 21 WITH VISIT DALLAS.

WE HAVE PROVEN, AS HAS THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THAT VISIT DALLAS HAS WORKED WITH US TO REMEDY EVERYTHING AND ALL OF THOSE ARE CITED AS COMPLETED OR IMPLEMENTED.

AND SO VISIT IS AGAIN, HAS BEEN A GREAT PARTNER AS WE'VE MOVED TOWARDS THAT AND THEY'VE PROVEN THAT THEIR ORGANIZATION HAS DONE A COMPLETE TURNAROUND.

UM, BUT YOU CAN SEE A STEADY INCLINE, NOT WITHSTANDING COVID AS, UH, YOU, THE FIRST YEAR OF OUR CONTRACT WAS 2020 AND WE, UH, GOT INTO COVID OBVIOUSLY, UH, BUT WE CAME OUT OF COVID VERY QUICKLY.

IN FACT, DALLAS WAS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST BIG CITIES TO RECOVER FROM THE PANDEMIC.

AND WE ACTUALLY EXCEEDED OUR 2019 REVENUES, WHICH WERE THE HIGHEST IN RECORDED HISTORY OF DALLAS AT THAT TIME.

AND WE EXCEEDED THOSE IN 2022.

SO PRETTY QUICK TURNAROUND AND WE'VE BEEN ON A TRAJECTORY SINCE.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT, UM, ALL THE, THE OVERALL ECONOMIC IMPACT VISITOR SPENDING IS $6.6 BILLION WORTH OF ECONOMIC IMPACT IN THE CITY OF DALLAS ALONE.

UM, AND IT ACCOUNTS FOR ABOUT 60,000 JOBS AND THAT IS NOT 600 BILLION, THAT SHOULD BE 600 MILLION STATE AND LOCAL TAXES.

SO, UM, IN SHORT, UM, WE HAVE PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT FROM DALLAS THAT PAY A GREAT DEAL OF TAXES IN DALLAS AND HELPS TO INCREASE THE WAY OF LIFE OF PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN OUR CITY.

I DON'T WANNA DWELL TOO MUCH ON PANDEMIC RECOVERY, BUT DURING THE PANDEMIC, UM, VISIT DALLAS TURNED OUR ATTENTION TO THE CITY OF DALLAS IN TERMS OF TRYING TO HIGHLIGHT RESTAURANTS AND, UM, GETTING BUSINESSES GOING DURING PROBABLY THE WORST ECONOMIC TIME I CAN EVER REMEMBER IN, IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY.

SO WE, UM, WE PUSHED OUR EFFORTS INWARD AND TRIED TO GET PEOPLE FROM DALLAS TO COME IN, UM, AND STAY IN THEIR OWN CITY FOR STAYCATIONS.

AND IT WORKED.

UM, THAT WAS A BIG PART OF OUR RECOVERY EFFORTS.

SO, LOOKING BACK TO THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS THAT LED US TO ANNOUNCING OUR NEW CONVENTION CENTER IN 2029, OUR TEAM WORKED SIDE BY SIDE WITH CITY AND LOCAL LEADERS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC.

AND IT RESULTED IN THE SUCCESSFUL PASSING WITH 2% INCREASE IN HOTEL TAX, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS A BRIER BILL.

WE'VE BEEN LEADING THE SALES STRATEGY WITH OUR NEW BUILDING AND WORKING WITH OUR CITY INSPIRED DALLAS POPULACE PERKINS AND WILL AND TRINITY ALLIANCE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE, UH, PLANNING PROCESS, WORKING WITH OUR CUSTOMERS TO MAKE THE BEST CONVENTION CENTER POSSIBLE WHEN IT OPENS IN 2029.

AND YOU'LL HEAR MORE ABOUT THAT ON WEDNESDAY AT CITY, UH, COUNCIL, OUR WORK IS JUST BEGINNING AND INSTILLING OUR BRAND INTO FIFA MESSAGING AS WELL AS THE NEW KAYA BAILEY HUTCHINSON CONVENTION CENTER.

SO, UM, THAT HAS BEEN TREMENDOUSLY SUCCESSFUL AS YOU CAN SEE THAT THE, UM, WE HAVE MORE THAN $150 MILLION IN ADVERTISING EQUIVALENCY THAT HAS COME FROM THAT EFFORT AND IT'S JUST BEGINNING.

BUT, UM, THE FACT THAT DALLAS IS A MICHELIN CITY MEANS A LOT TO OUR PROSPECTIVE VISITORS.

UM, AND WHAT THAT MEANS IS THAT KNOWING THAT WE'RE OPENING UP A NEW CONVENTION CENTER IN 2029, WE HAD TO ENVISION WHAT DALLAS WILL LOOK LIKE AS A TOURISM DESTINATION 10 YEARS FROM NOW IN 2020 IN 2035.

SO WE WORKED WITH ALL OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS DOWNTOWN AS WELL AS THE CITY, UM, AND REALLY ENGAGED A BROAD GROUP OF PEOPLE TO ENVISION WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE.

AND SOME HIGHLIGHTS ARE THAT WE'RE, WE'RE REALLY WANT TO LEAN INTO OUR SPORTS CULTURE.

WE WANNA REALLY LEAN INTO FAIR PARK, REINVIGORATING IT, AND OF COURSE THE CONVENTION CENTER DISTRICT AMONGST THREE THINGS.

BUT THE, WE CAME BACK WITH OVER 40 RECOMMENDATIONS THAT VISIT DALLAS WILL BE IN INVOLVED WITHIN THE NEXT 10 YEARS AND MAKING DALLAS A MORE OF A VISITOR FRIENDLY CITY THAN IT IS.

AND THROUGHOUT THIS TIME WE REMAINED IN THE TOP FIVE MEETING DESTINATION CITIES AND EXPANDED OUR SALES REACH EVERYWHERE.

ALL TOLD WE HAVE OVER 60 NEW BOOKINGS IN OUR CONVENTION CENTER FOR YEARS 20 TO 29 AND AFTERWARDS AND HUNDREDS OF ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES COMING DOWN THE PIKE FOR THE CONVENTION CONSTRUCTION YEARS.

WE SHIFTED OUR FOCUS MORE TO SELF-CONTAINED ONE AND TWO HOTEL PIECES OF BUSINESS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION YEARS, WHICH CONSTRUCTION BEGINS IN IN JULY, AS YOU KNOW, BUT ALL TOLD A LOT OF SUCCESS IN THAT REGARD.

AND FOR MARKETING, THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR NEW BRAND HAS INCREASED THE NUMBER OF LEISURE VISITORS THAT WE ARE BRINGING IN EVERY YEAR.

OUR PRIMARY GOALS ARE TO GENERATE AWARENESS AND INCREMENTAL VISITATION FOR LEISURE AND CONVENTION TRAVEL THROUGH HIGHLY TARGETED CAMPAIGN EFFORTS.

AND ACCORDING TO RECENT REPORTS, THE ECONOMIC IMPACT FROM OUR CAMPAIGNS IS AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.

IT'S BEEN, UM, WITH A TOTAL OF $159 IN REVENUE FOR EVERY $1 SPENT.

AND THIS IS A MARKET THAT WE'LL BE TRAINED TO IN A BIG WAY IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS AS WE GO THROUGH CONSTRUCTION AND WILL BE WITHOUT A CONVENTION CENTER AS A LEAD GENERATION SOURCE.

OUR SPORTS COMMISSION WORKS WITH THE MAYOR'S OFFICE TO DEVELOP THE MAYOR'S YOUTH TICKET PROGRAM, WHICH PARTNERS WITH PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAMS THROUGHOUT NORTH TEXAS TO PROVIDE TICKETS TO YOUTHS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 12 AND 17, ALONG WITH THEIR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS.

NOTABLE FUTURE BOOKINGS BY THE SPORTS COMMISSION IS

UM, IN THAT, IN SPENDING, OUR TOURISM TEAM IS TASKED WITH DRAWING INTERNATIONAL DOMESTIC GROUP TRAVELERS TO THE CITY AND WORKS VERY CLOSELY AND STRATEGICALLY WITH BOTH MAJOR AIRPORTS, AMERICAN AIRLINES, AND SOUTHWEST AIR SOUTHWEST AIRLINES TO ATTRACT MORE ROOTS TO THE AREA.

THIS GROUP ALSO WORKS WITH OUR TEPI PARTNERS AND SUPPORTS THE ARTS COMMUNITY THROUGH THE EVENT MARKETING FUND.

OUR ROBUST LIVE MUSIC SCENE HAS BEEN, THE HIGHLIGHT HAS BEEN HIGHLIGHTED THROUGHOUT THE DOWNTOWN WITH A BUSKING PROGRAM YOU'VE SEEN LATELY AT VARIOUS STREET CORNERS IN PUBLIC VENUES.

UM, SUCCESSFULLY LAST YEAR.

WE HOSTED THE REGIONAL RECORDING ACADEMY CELEBRATION LAST DECEMBER.

SO THE DALLAS MUSIC OFFICE IS, IS IN ITS INFANCY, BUT IS MAKING A HUGE IMPACT IN THE AWARENESS OF LIVE MUSIC AS PART OF THE REASONS WHY VISITORS ARE DRAWN TO DALLAS.
